Hey all,
Out cleaning out the garage today and ran across of a bunch of my old stuff from when I was in the military. In all the goodies I found an old Scharade knife I haven't seen on 30+ years! It is an auomatic, 7-8" long. 100% metal, even the handle. Works perfectly!
One side of the blade has GEO.SCHARADE BRIDGEPORT CONN
Other side has PRESTO MADE IN U.S.A
I've done a bunch of internet searches and it appears to be a WW2 Paratrooper knife. What's puzzling me is the descriptions online say it has a patent number or even pat pending, mine does not which I may be mistakenly assuming means pre-partern?
Does anyone have any further information on it?
What's the best way to clean it? I understand you shouldn't use metal cleaners or polishes on them (especially if they are valuable). I'm thinking just a general purpose solvent and a soft cloth. Light lube after?
Some of the valuations I'm seeing is anywhere from 350-600$ but those all have the patent marks so no clue on this one!
Thanks!
-Brian
