hi point carbine???

They are fun, but not something I would add to my collection. hard to say why, I just was not into it when shooting.

I must admit, when they first hit the market I almost bought one.... almost

I wanted to get a Ruger PC9 for a while, got one, tried it for a while, but it didn't do it for me. I then sold it. I have decided that if I am going to get a pistol caliber carbine again, it is going to be a cowboy style lever action. Something along the lines of a Winchester 1866, 1873, or 1894

I have one with the ATI stock, it's fun and not too expensive to shoot. The mags can be a little finicky with the aftermarket stock.

I picked one up when they 1st came out. $110.00 many years ago. I topped it w/ a 4x Soviet scope and a compensator. Fun gun and very accurate to 70 yards. I still would not stand in front of it at 100 either. It eats everything I have fed it from Commercial 115gr to 85hp's, 124RNL, 124FMJ, 147gr HP handloads. Never had a hiccup. Jim

I think JonJ still has one with an aftermarket stock that makes it look a lot like a Beretta CX4 Storm. That'd be the only way I'd get one.

FWIW, there has been a debate over which is better, the Kel Tec Sub series or Hi Point carbines. If you do wind up getting over to Sippican, I can bring my Kel Tec Sub2000 in 9mm so you can try it out.

I have one. It is ugly but, fun. My wife claimed it for herself. It is dead reliable and quite accurate to 50 yards(I haven't shot it any further than that). I will second that it seems to shoot any brand of ammo pretty well. I would buy one again without reservation. The only drawback is that it doesn't have that expensive, fine crafted, high end look and feel that we all like, but, let's be real they're under $200. They do work extremely well and they are guaranteed for life. Overall I think they are a tremendous value.

It was a fun and cheap carbine. I put the ATI stock on it, a red dot and a barrel shroud.
I ended up selling it. It didn't really fit what I wanted. My wife and daughter loved it.
Here's a thread with a pic of it:

I have the Keltec Sub-2000 9mm carbine.

What a great little gun! It is accurate to 100 yards at least. It was pretty easy to hit clay pigeons at that distance.

This one folds in half and takes glock 17 magazines.

I handled a second hand Hi-Point in a store and almost decided to buy it. I put it down and someone else grabbed it.

Can't go wrong w/ the 1894. Picked one up recently (30-30) and it has quickly become my favorite rifle. Considering I also have a Garand, M-1 Carbine, other C&Rs and an AR-15 that's saying a lot!

First the (sort of)bad:
I just sent my Hi-Point 995 back to the factory Thrusday. Out of the blue(run ~1000 rounds since I new) it started to fail-to-feed any ammo I used out of all three factory mags I have. I had a local shop go through it, they basicly cleaned an lubbed it but did not fix the issue. Using any of three mags loaded to 5 rounds instead of 10, the rifle functions perfectly. [hmmm]
Anyway HP's customer service was quick to get back to me. I got a call from the smith(when he they said he would call!), he said he wanted the gun back and would rebuild it if that's what it took to get it working. Futher more they'll return it with-in two weeks and include another mag for my trouble.....
...had to remind myself I spent $170 to purchase the carbine NIB....[wink]

the (more)good:
The Hi-Point handles well, has a decent trigger, effective iron sights and like the others owers said, accuracy is great for this type of weapon out to 100y. I put it in the ATI stock and use a factory muzzle break.
Very fun and inexpensive shoot.
