How do you start stocking up on food?

Contact broadsword through the warrifles forum. His mountain house http://www.mountainhouse.com/index.cfm group buy pricing is phenomenal (about 1/2).
They used to have pricing listed on the web site but all the other mountain house dealers started crying and ratted him out to MH for selling the stuff so cheap. MH told them that they could no longer post prices on the net. They have done around a dozen group buys, I got in on 3 or 4 of them and have about 120 days worth stashed away.

Here's a link to their last one, there is another forming now.

Just an FYI, as of now Broadsword, and Dijon will no longer be doing MH group buys through ANY online forum. You have to be on their mailing list to receive offers for upcoming buys.

I was at shaw's last night, starkist Tuna 88 cent's a can Dinty more beef stew 10 for 10 spam, 3 for 5, B&M bean's 10 for 10, deviled ham 10 for 10. check it out..

If your a jerky fan, smoking or drying out meats tend to make them last longer. Obviuosly not too long, but long enough to survive off it for a couple weeks, maybe a month if kept in vacuum.

In addition to the foods that some of you mentioned, I like to keep a lot of canned soups on hand. If you pick right, you can get all your protein & carb needs, & some extra hydration in a single can. I also agree with those that said you should have some extra vitamins on hand to make up for deficiencies in your diet.

I could eat fried Spam every day and never complain. [grin]

You and our son.[laugh]Except he and one of his buddies would just eat it right out of the can. I keep it on hand for him, and when he has weekend drills away then as he puts it doesn't have to eat MRE's.[laugh]
