How often do you clean your AR gas tubes?

Once: When I dropped the rifle in muddy sand and managed to get a plug of sand in the tube. Sand and moving metal doesn't result in superior performance but that is probably the exception rather than the rule.

What are you worried about? As stated, the pressure applied to the gas block and tube are generally enough to prevent blockage. Clean the gas key if you like as part of the bcg but that should be it. Unless you fill your rifle with liquid sand...

I did mine once with some hoppes and the long pipe cleaner. Wasnt dirty. Dont plan on it again. If the army doesnt clean it then odds are its not an issue

Like drgrant said. Its more likely something could get hung up in there and make matters worse.

Only brushed it from the rear with a wicked long pipe cleaner.

ETA: people running .22 conversions in AR's would most likely be the only ones that need to clean them.

Never. I just line the damn thing. I have standard m4 gas direct impingement in the Army and they get filthy. Ever trip to range with the military they get cleaned. I have a piston upper and ill be dammed the thing is pretty clean after each trip. Been to range 5 times and never cleaned it. But lube every time after range
