So I've had a high-speed camera for several months now. It's great fun taking shots at water bottles with the 5.56, 7.62x39, .45 ACP and 12ga. However, I think it's time to scale up. Does anyone have any suggestions on particular firearms/calibers that are going to do spectacular damage to a gallon of water and a block of jello? I'm not looking to necessitate shoulder surgery or cause hearing loss within a 1/2 mile radius, I'm going purely for looks here.

Bear in mind that I'm in MA. A friend of mine has a press, so reloading is an option but not the easiest thing in the world.

I would think:
3" shotgun slug
204 Ruger (or something that screams)

Pure velocity might be the way to go. I have thought about getting a 204 Ruger barrel for my contender.

You could always duct tape a glock to a watter bottle and tie a string to the trigger and get behind bomb proof glass and pull the string.

So to summarize, I can now feel vindicated in picking up pretty much any of the long guns I've been pining for over the years, except an M1A. My wallet hates you all. Forever.

SW500, 50 BMG, and we also just picked up a blunderbuss which will probably be pretty cool in slow motion [wink]

ETA: We have a 700grain hollowpoint coming in which I'm pretty curious to see against water jugs/pumpkins[smile]

Video 1 (link) - My favorite shot goes to the 2min 40s mark. I love the water exploding and then catching all the droplets splashing back down.

Video 2 (link) - It's a 1911 and a block of ice - what more do you need to know?

Video 3 (link) - Lots of time spent demonstrating the glory of the muzzle brake on my AR (~3 minutes has to be the best shot of the bunch).

how much are you willing to spend on BOOM lol

just one of the best deals for boom to use as an example, your plain Jane weatherby vangaurd synthetic in a 300 weatherby mag, under 500$ new. reloading aside remington has a deal thing going with weatherby so even though nothing boom is cheap its not as expensive as the weatherby stuff.

you want to spend and probally have something to tease anyone who loves boom that doesnt own one already.

aside from the everyone knows calibers

weatherby still has you covered, mark v 30-378
