I open carried in Boston today

Yup, that's him!

I can't afford high-powered lawyers, he was great but a 2A org in MA paid for him to help me out. I was (and am) very thankful for them and Keith helping me get my stuff back. But I wish I could also have found a lawyer to sue my town police for their conduct. If they are not stopped they will just keep doing stuff like that, despite all the court cases. My town's police have a long history of corruption, but somehow they are still there.

In any case, I think it'd be easier to OC in the middle of Boston than here. So I formally dare the OP to come to my town and OC :) I'd come with you, of course. I believe that a right not exercised eventually disappears.

Good news and bad news. The good news is you shouldn't be disappointed, because even if you sued and won, it wouldn't change a thing. The bad news is of course, it wouldn't change a thing.

I'm guessing that was Comm 2A. If so, there's nothing wrong with openly signing their praises here. I believe most of the Comm 2A guys are still members, and they're well-known here. I even helped raise money for them years ago when I lived in Lowell by doing some work to get the Porsche "Car Shoot" event going. There're some "before and after "photos of that Porsche in the Member's section here: nes-green-member-shoot-schedule-at-monadnock-rod-and-gun-club

If it was a different 2A organization that helped you out, feel free to let us know who that was so they can be acknowledged by all of us for their good work!

Wait, what???

They very generously paid for The Scrivener to help me out, but didn't want to help beyond that if I should happen to OC again and get into the same predicament. I don't blame them, at all. I'm just saying I would have liked to push the issue, in my town and surrounding ones. If I had a lot of money I would.

Guys, nobody's going to convince anybody who only carries concealed that it's better to carry openly. They've read all the reasons and decided against it. They don't need to read the reasons again.

Live and let live.

I'm still willing to be a legal guinea pig if the right lawyer wanted a fun case.

In.
.

It was being "Scrived". OMG I haven't seen that name/meme in years. Good times.

I shot an IDPA match with Keith "Scrivener" Langer at Harvard Sportsmen's Club, and he was pleasant to me that day. We'd never met before, but I recognized who he was immediately.

I was entertained by some of his NES posts, but he really took it too far sometimes. Interesting dude, and yes... "good times" back in the day.
I never got Scrived because I tend to use mostly proper English. [rofl]
To some people, getting Scrived was a badge of honor, though.

I think it's just a defense mechanism, a pre-emptive nastiness that most people in New England have anyway, but as a lawyer you probably get a lot of hate and don't want to waste time on being nice anyway.

Keith was over my house briefly, he probably talked more about his cats than any other subject. It was clear he loves animals, nice to chat about something other than the meeting I was dreading.

I'd add that it's part of surviving, especially in an urban environment.

FWIW, in seven months I've see TWO people open carry in Texas. One works for the Texas Military Department and took his jacket off in early May when we were at lunch. The other was a Texas Ranger and they seem to always open carry.

Other than that, no one.

For what? So you will get attention? Part of being mature is not wanting to draw attention to oneself. When there is not one good thing that can come from a behavior but only negative things the mature intelligent course is to avoid it.

I'm sure one of the MA Gun Law attorneys on the forum has a more clear recollection of the incident than do I, but there was an attorney in Dedham whose jacket flew open in the wind and the Chief revoked his LTC. Took him 10 years to get it back. As I recall, the attorney was a town PITA and so a lot of people where looking to f*** with him.

That has to be close to 30 years ago, but it got a lot of coverage in the local media at the time.

I have the right to walk down the street in Roxbury, screaming the N word, and flashing wads of $100 bills without being harassed. I'd be mind bogglingly stupid to do so.

Open carry is insane, but it should be legal to protect a concealed carrier from being arrested for flashing if the wind blows open a jacket.

The white shirt, tie small circular TX Ranger badge gives them away.

And the size in this guy's case. He was 6' 4" or taller and built like a NFL Linebacker. I didn't talk to him as we were both just getting stuff at a convenient store. Nice tan leather gear though. No revolver, some sort of semi auto. From what I can find on line their issue firearm is the P320.

The TX Ranger I met was tall, thin and carrying a stainless 1911 in what looked similar to a Yaqui Slide.
