I think this is amazing. This could work in a total catastrophe. I get the blog and the device was used in various 3rd world disasters.
Truly amazing technology. Can be paired with an iPhone for easy message creation. Also can be utilized with solar charging apparatus.

The Iridium network covers the entire world.

Phone calls on this were pretty expensive

Indeed. The phone calls are expensive on Iridium.

The texting data is also sent through Iridium network, so it is just a reliable but obviously texts are cheaper.
