True.
The way you shoot, the center would probably get chewed out quickly; me, not so much.

I used to have a tailgate mat in the garage, let me look and see if I still have it and we can see how it stands up to getting shot with fmj or we could arrange a group buy on Cumberland Rubber Supply (CRS) - Ballistic Rubber Sheets

I made some backyard targets like these out of horse mats from tractorsupply, they work ok, but they are not as satisfying as steel.

@AllaSnackbah did as well, I think he had videos and detailed pictures, but it was a long time ago.
