Is my Ruger 10-22 Mass legal?

If I'm not mistaken (and I could be), this rifle barely meets the assault weapon definition in MA because it has the pistol grip and collapsible stock. If I'm not missing any other "evil things", can't he just pin the stock to make it legal in MA?
