I just want to confirm that everything will "fit" together properly. Its my first build.

1. Anderson Lower Receiver (from FS Gunshop)

2. Lower Parts Kit: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/palmetto-state-armory-classic-lpk.html

3. Upper: http://palmettostatearmory.com/inde...pper-w-m16-bcg-charging-handle-rear-mbus.html
-- Will need to remove bayonet lug and also weld a muzzle brake

4. Muzzle brake: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/aac-brakeout-51t-compensator-1-2-28-100186.html

5. Stock Assembly: http://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...-stock-kit-blk-sku084000386-54977-111959.aspx

Total: 768.98

Does anyone have any feedback? It would be my first AR-15. Just wanted to confirm it will all "fit". I wanted to order it tonight/tomorrow. Also, feel free to suggest any changes!

Everything will fit together just fine.
Should be a solid, budget first build.

Happy shootin'!

Sweet! Any suggestions? Also, I was wondering, is the compensator overkill? Its 100 bucks.

I would say it's overkill for a first build. Should be able to get something decent for $30 or less.

I put this one on my latest build:

The butt stock you list is nice, I have one on a 20" barreled rifle. It might seem too long or bulky for a carbine. Maybe go with a typical carbine stock, or even an ACE Skeleton?

But you are on the right track for a good rifle. Good luck.

Make sure the comp is for 5.56 and not 7.62. Check out the YHM Phantom muzzle break if you are looking to save some money compared to the AAC. Also you might be able to find a lpk and moe stock package kit on palmetto and save a few bucks.

Isn't the LOP going to be the same on that as the ACE Skeleton? They both use rifle length buffers............
I have the ACE on my 14.5" build because I have longer arms and would rather a longer stock.
I don't know, it's 110% preference.

Thanks! It has great reviews as well. How does it shoot?

I've only had it to the range once. I was shooting it slow, zeroing my Aimpoint, so I can't really speak to it's prowess on follow-up shots. It seems pretty similar to the other brakes I have.

Probably. It uses the same buffer tube as an A2 stock or a regular length ACE. It just seems disproportionate to me. It is a nice stock, though.

I have longer arms so i thought the butt stock would be OK. Hard to tell without seeing the stock in person and trying it out. If anything, I'll just change it out.

The language in the description of your brake may disturb your overlords. I'm not telling you what to do, nor do I care. Just saying.

To expand on this, it's labeled a compensator which may not be acceptable on a rifle. If it was labelled like the Amazon one, aka a Muzzle Brake, it would be more acceptable. It is a grey area as the law doesn't define what is a brake and what is not.

I tend to use the YHM Phantom brakes as they're relatively inexpensive ($30ish).

Otherwise, I agree, it looks good. You may want to check our Northeast Arms in Peabody, I think they might have had stripped lowers for a bit less and they don't force you to FA10 them early.

You'll also need a charging handle. A standard one will work and is pretty cheap (~$10). A BCM Gunfighter is much nicer, but will run you close to $50. So far, I have only used the BCM on a gun with a scope that made it hard to grab the standard handle.

Ahhh I thought you meant regular ACE Skeleton, you must have been talking about the ACE [Entry] Skeleton. My bad, yo.

The Upper has the BCG and Charging handle according to the description.

It comes with a charging handle.
U drunk bro?[wink]

Then you might want to stick with the one you chose. I do like the length of pull on this buttstock. If you went with a telescoping stock you would probably end up pinning it at the same length, so might as well get something solid that you can store stuff inside.

The upper comes with a charging handle and a bolt carrier group. Probably a cheap one but it'll do for now I hope.

as far as a brake check out yankee hill phantom brakes, they are around $30. works great have one on my tavor. I think $100 on a brake is crazy... unless your doing some fancy crazy all out high end build, but that is just me.

https://www.primaryarms.com/Magpul-MOE-Fixed-Carbine-Stock-Mil-Spec-Black-p/mag480-blk.htm I dont know if you have seen these stocks, I like them alot.

I was considering that stock too, I just thought I'd go for the full thing. its a shame PSA doesn't have the stock I want in black (they do in a different color).

I had a phantom brake, and it didn't do anything for me. Problem is that a brake is only one small part of the entire system. The same brake may have different results on different rifles. I run a Ranier XTC and LOVE it. I'm also running the Magpul Fixed carbine stock and love it.

How does the threading for the muzzle brake work? The muzzle brakes suggested here are 1/2"-28. What exactly does that mean? How do I match it to the barrel?

That is the standard threading for an AR-15 barrel. Typical AR15 brakes should fit that barrel just fine.

The barrel doesn't list it's specs, but have no fear. You WILL need a brake/comp sized 1/2"-28, it's pretty standard

Related to this this setup -> rifle length stock/rifle length buffer tube on a carbine gas system...
My search of the oracle/Google finds most say it works fine. But I've read claims that the long rifle buffer could strike the back of the buffer tube too hard and transmit stress to the receiver, possibly crack the receiver over time.

I too like the long A2 stock and i'm making my first build that way with 16" mid length gas. It is very similar to the OP's build.

I found buffer spacers online to permit use of carbine springs and buffer in a rifle tube. I wonder if some weight of carbine "H" buffer in the rifle buffer tube would be good inexpensive insurance? H3 is about the same weight as the rifle buffer. There are all the variables like gas port size which makes mileage vary.

I'm not sure what to try first. rosefox911's build will prob. be running before mine. Let us know how it runs.

Northeast Arms is selling stripped Anderson Manufacturing lowers for $80. Just mention NES. They will do a NICS check and will NOT file an FA10. You do not need to do an FA10 until the entire rifle is completed.

Also, the YHM Annihilator MB is wicked ($56): https://yhm.net/annihilator-muzzle-brake-5-56mm.html
