so i scored some hi-cap hi-power mags the other day for cheap... sweet, right? [mg]

they have their own set of issues though unfortunately the mags will fit into the mag well, feed rounds (snap caps), and will operate the slide stop but they do not want to come out of the gun. i ended up hooking the lip of the baseplate on the edge of my pants pocket and giving it a pretty forceful tug to get the magazine out. both magazines do this same thing.

any suggestions? guess this is why they are cheap (USA magazine brand)!

i have two mec-gear hi-caps that are awesome. the other two retard mags i have are also mec-gear and work great despite being neutered.

will you be bringing your bhp to monadnock this weekend? i plan on bringing mine and might bring these problem mags to see if they give anyone else a hard time. i've got a belgian bhp (assembled in portgual).

What I usually do with those is throw them downrange and shoot them. USA and Promag are pretty much junk. Mecgars are pretty much the only non-garbage BHP mags, unless you find old school factory-style ones.

If you want to use them I'd probably take a grinder to them or something. Insert and remove them a bunch of times and see where the wear marks on the mag are... "polish" as needed.

Yep. I'm also RSO'ing so catch me when I'm shooting on the line.

I've seen this alot. Meggar does make very good mags. To work on your mags, coat the on four sides with Dychem and start looking for high spots. You may need to file them a bit. Never put the mag in vice, since they tend to distort easily. Some mags have a "helper" spring on the top of the bottom plate. The mag disconnector should not effect the drop if tuned properly. I always think of the saying " you get what you pay for" when it comes to cheap stuff.

The only magazines that I will use for serious use with a Browning Hi Power are Mecgar and Browning OEM (which are made by Medgar, at some). Be wary of any others, and these include those made for the licensed Argentine made FM.

Cheap Hi-Power magazines are no bargain.
