Hi,

Been about a year since I shot my Walther PPS. I have always kept the clips fully loaded.
Went to Marlboro yesterday and has 3 failures to load the new cartridge. I may have been limp wrist but could keeping the clips loaded been a factor?

Thanks,

Tom

Instead of criticizing the OP for the words used in his post, I will answer his question.

Leaving magazines loaded will not affect the strength of the spring and should not affect feeding of rounds into the chamber. In general, springs weaken with cycling from relaxed to tensioned and back, not when static.

Well said.

<sarcasm>Oh, all magazines are identical and interchangeable because they are the same word? Sweet, I can just use my Shield mags instead of getting those scary banana clips for my AR.</sarcasm>

I get it they are different, and it bugs me when I hear it. Although it doesn't bug me as much as people just berating an inexperienced shooter for using the wrong term without helping answer the question.

Hey, a lot of us had to learn the hard way. You gotta admit it's a lot less severe than it used to be.
Ah, I see. You wouldn't know that unless you've been a long time lurker.
Time was that a pig pile would ensue. Now it's just a little ribbing.

Yup. Hooke's Law. Net force on the spring is zero, so no displacement or wear of the spring (unless temperature or chemical contact changes the spring constant).

Mine used to have feeding problems. I think it was primarily with steel cased (or worse, aluminum) ammo. What are you using for ammo? I'd also make sure it's lubed. If it's been sitting for a while it might now be as lubed as it should be.

Man that was fast 2 pages in less than 40 min.

Yes I am a bit of a newbe although been around and owned guns since I was a kid in Maine.
Thank you all for the input it made me laugh, really. I had heard that keeping a magazine loaded was not a good idea but glad to hear it not true.
I was shooting Fiocchi and Blazer 115gr brass FMJ yesterday. I am hoping to get this terrible Ma trigger fixed. Looking for a gunsmith that can do the job.

Thank you all again,

Tom

You'll fit in fine with that attitude Tom. Welcome aboard. [thumbsup]

No I understand. I have been a lurker for a while and am becoming more active. This forum is great, and is way more helpful than any other gun forum I have seen whether it is guns, family, legal help, or just personal support. Its the varied group with differing opinions and a common interest that makes it great. Also just realized it is time to renew my green status.

The start of my post was supposed to be a little more light hearted of a response to the de-motivational poster than it came out on screen. I just feel it's important to answer the question of a new guy before you lay into him over something stupid.

His question has been answered, NOW it's open season. :)

Any of you guys call me Francis.....

Its just tough love.

How about: "A rose is a rose." Or, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Or, "A mag is a mag even when called a clip."

Puzzling... I know mine works after a prolonged time of not using...but I use Magazines....not sure about clips.
