LA - Man Shoots Would-Be Car Jacker

An armed man who tried to carjack someone in New Orleans was fatally shot as he stood outside the car.

Police said the identities of the victim or the person who shot him were not available early Thursday.

According to police spokeswoman Hilal Williams, the man approached a motorist, pulled out a gun and demanded the car.

Williams says the driver refused, pulling his own gun out and firing through the door. She says the would-be attacker was struck multiple times. The man died at the scene.

If a case like this were in the nationwide news every night for two weeks, carjackings would likely cease.

Good for the car owner.....hope his hearing is still ok.

Second note to self: Make sure to use sufficient caliber to penetrate car door without fail. +P+ in 9mm and handloaded .45acp ball ammo.

Yup. There was a murder in Mass. where a .22 LR went through car doors/windows and inflicted immediately fatal wounds. I'd still prefer a fast bullet like Finallygotabeltfed described (preferably bonded as well), but anything will do the job.
