Are there any downsides of registering a firearm as a large capacity firearm vs non large capacity firearm? I have a Class A Large Carry LTC

The MA definition of ''Large capacity weapon'' is unclear and the large capacity seems the conservative option to go with on the FA-10 for a 2011 that was manufactured to accept 10+ round mags by default but I will be only getting 10 round mags.

If it takes detachable mags, then generally speaking yes.

I remember there was some debate years ago about whether a 10/22 is considered high capacity due to the fact that for decades it never shipped with anything but 10 round mags, and therefor it was not “designed” to accept high caps, depending on how you want to define “designed”. This was kind of an edge case anyways.

IANAL

It's model was named because it's a 10 shot 22.

It is one or the other. Was it made to accept more than 10? An ar15 with 10 round mags is still a high cap rifle

I forgot to clarify that this is for a handgun.
