Not really enjoying huffing the gas puffs every time I shoot suppressed on a normal handed AR. No issue when not running a can but with a can it just farts cancer. Anyone run left handed eject AR rigs? Did some digging and didn't know Aero made them - AR15 14.5" 5.56 Mid-Length Gov QPQ Barrel Complete Upper 13.5" Slimline Left Handed - Anodized Black

Already threw in an H2 buffer and the Breek Sledgehammer handle seems to do a decent job. I figure if the toxic gas port is on the left and not directly in front of my face, can actually enjoy shooting suppressed without holding my breath

I have a ghetto BCA left upper and I love it. Glad to see more options are available now.

Great price on that by the way. I’m tempted…

Curious as to what is left hand specific - barrel too or just the upper receiver itself? BCG presumably. Dust cover and take down pins as well I assume.

I'm a lefty but the only lefty anything I own are bolt action rifles- haven't felt the need a lefty rifle yet but I also don't have a can. But this has given me flash backs to the green handled scissors in Elementary school.
A regular AR runs fine shooting left handed and shouldn't spit brass in your eye like a Tavor. Typically just throw on an ambi safety and charging handle and call it a day. Throw on a traditional can, not one of those fancy flow through ones, and you're sucking up toxic cancer after every shot. Yeah, with bolt guns all of mine are normal righty bolts too - got used to pulling the bolt back with support arm while keeping left hand on grip.

I think all you need is the left handed upper and BCG. Seems Aero is inexpensive enough to try. I agree if you don’t have cans then no real need. With cans though, the gas is quite annoying, particularly with SBRs.

Yeah I picked up one of these - TOOAUTO-016LH - Toolcraft .223/5.56/300BLK M16 Profile Left-Handed Bolt Carrier Group - Black Nitride - AR15Discounts

Sucks anything LH parts costs a premium. a LH nickel boron bolt was outrageously priced compared to the fact you can get a RH Toolcraft nibx bcg for just a hundo. Interesting to see the dust cover flip up from the top I guess so it doesn't interfere with the bolt release spot.

I’m left eye dominant and my AR9 is the worst with gassing in your face. It sucks so bad I don’t even fire the gun.
My 15’s are not nearly as bad. My suppressor sends most of the gas forward away from your face by design.

I know nothing of shooting suppressed. But I too got tired of the brass and gas so I was able to put together a matching set.

Now my daughters can use the right handed AR and I use the lefty.

It’s a “win-win” really….

Shoulda splurged and went gucci with one of those new 3d printed flow through cans but instead I picked up a YHM T3. Not bad at all just didn't think about the gas issue. Next can will def be flow. Yeah I shot it right handed and with the Armaspec gen 4 captured H2 buffer and the sledgehammer charging handle it really isn't terrible at all on my 16 inch barrel suppressed. What little gas is left dissipates at the side of your face it's whatever. Switch to left hand shooting and holeephuc not fun, hence the need for a LH eject upper. This will be a dedicated suppressed upper and I'll have to pin that YHM phantom brake on it to make 16.

I have Ace Skeletons on all mine. My Stag normal (laft-handed) upper is on a Dnlonkey Show lower from a group but in 2016.

I have had left handed upper AR's in the past and I found left uppers really were not really nessary. I shoot left handed and unless you have a really old upper without a shell deflector the left handed upper is just a novelty. All my AR's are now normal right handed, no problems.

I was happy with shooting left handed on a regular AR too until I popped the suppressor cherry.

Not interested in a piston upper instead? Don’t know if the problem is just the gas or if you also want brass out of the way.

I had a major issue with getting gassed horribly shooting 300BO subs suppressed. A family member who is NJ SWAT hooked me up with a Raptor charge handle. Reduced the face blowback quite a bit.

The sledgehammer handle seemed to do a decent job sealing off the gaps at the end of the receiver near the nose when you shoot. I looked at the Raptor SD and it's a pretty smart play to divert it downward, but then you're looking at a nastier trigger group area way faster. Most of my qualms was with the puff coming out of the ejection port and when I shot my rig right handed, it was minimal but left handed, your face gets bukkaked with cancer every time you pull the trigger.

I’ve had a lefty Stag AR for 3gun for years. For those asking, the differences are ejection port, BCG and bolt are reversed. That’s it. I’ve never shot it with a can, so I can’t speak to it, but not having the ejecting brass cross in front of my eyes as a distraction when running and gunning is nice. Deflectors help, but the hot brass can still hit your support arm and burns a bit too with a RH AR for a lefty.

Also, in matches where you can, or must, pick up brass…all of mine is segregated nicely from everyone else’s.

Ive also read of guys adding a thin bead of RTV around the top and sides of the charge handle to block the gasses. I have not tried this but in theory it sounds like a good fix.

gas buster handles are a simple major improvement. it doesn't completely eliminate gas to the face but it's noticeable.

This is what I've used.

Basically $300 for an Aero wylde upper and then just need a LH BCG for around $150. Seems like a relatively affordable gamble to try for kicks and giggles. Then get the gas buster charger for the creme de la creme. Funny that there seems to have been a move towards ambi everything in the last 10 years or so. The Sig spear is full ambi (i.e., bolt catch ambi too) and many other lowers are as well. Might as well take it to the next logical step and just offer LH platforms. A lot of folks are either southpaws or left-eye dominant.

Toss this on a cheap PSA or poverty pony lower, throw on a Monstrum 1-10 FFP with ED glass for one fidy and you got a dirt cheap RECCE looking build and decent range beater.

Wonder how it would hold up tossing it in a barrel. It's a fine line between wanting competition worthy vs something to beat on and not care.

Sucks for me I'm left handed and right eye dominant. Fine for pistols but I've always wanted a rifle that spits brass and gas to the left and away from face. Just gotta train both shoulder fire equally now

I’m right hand left eye, you’re in a better config. Shoot the rifle righty and stop thinking about the lung cancer.

Same here, lefty right eye dominant. I do have one lefty AR but I rarely shoot it, guess I’ve gotten use to the brass and gas. Lol.

I have a bunch of left handed Stag Arms stuff I built over the years. It makes a world of difference when running the cans. Much of it is at my dad’s place in AZ because SBR and suppressed. I screwed myself by not transferring my SBR’s to MA before 8/1/24, so now I’ll have to form 1 more lowers.
