Ar handguard Q

Yup. You take off the plastic handguards and install this one according to the instructions. No need to remove the barrel, front sight base, or even the handguard cap behind the front sight base.

It is ordered.

Almost worked gents but nothing locks it fully in. Should I just buy a new upper or is there an adapter to fully lock it in?

Those are the gnarliest fingers I have ever seen. Looks like you were picking bloody scabs then chewed all your nails off.

ETA: Oh, you were a Marine.. It all makes sense now :)

ETA: in case your post was serious, there are a ton of Youtube videos.

IME, drop in handguards just suck ass balls. My first AR had that, but I switched over to free float as soon as I could. It didn't have a front sight gas block, so it was pretty easy (block wasn't pinned either). Then again, with even a modest set of tools, dealing with that would be easy. Pretty sure you can find a free float handguard to give you the visual effect you want while being better than a drop in would be.

The duvet cover is fabulous though.

The Daniel Defense Omega is free float. Just happens to be able to “drop in” on a milspec upper too. The USAF PJs bought a bunch during GWOT to retrofit their M4s. And lots of soldiers bought them too so they wouldn’t get noticed by their 1SG/CSM, but got free float

standard a1 or a2 handguard with a carry handle of your full size and m4 with a carry handle on your shorty. like 1911s: mil spec ar only. all other configurations are gay
