Looking For Grandpa's Gun

Here's the story. Bout 25 years ago my dad sold a Savage 12 gauge automatic shotgun to a now defunct gun shop here in Southbridge. When my dad started hunting, my grandfather bought 2 of the same model, and they had consecutive serial numbers. Is there anyway to find that gun? I'd love to buy it back. Any ideas?
By the way, he gave the other gun to my brother in law a few years before I started hunting, and he still has it. I could provide the model and serial number if needed.
