I just tried to use the MIRCS portal to renew my non resident permit. Finished the app. Didn’t realize they would insist on a new pic. See how that goes. Hope I didn’t waste my time.

Their website says they’re currently processing apps received in March.I assume that you meant "time".
- Renewal application received at MA FRB on 3/15.
- MA FRB letter with interview date & time, I received on 5/15.
- Interview date shown on letter set for 9/16.
- As of now .... still waiting on renewal.
= 6 months + (for a 1 year license)
FIFYAs a former town administrator once said to me “Hey we are the only game in town. We’re under no obligation to be covenient or do anything”
Stupity, Wareham, mail in renewal form and check. No fingerprints, drivers license picture, they mail it when done. WTF do they need fingerprints every time? What is up with Taunton requiring new pic and finger prints on renewal?
My girlfriend dropped off her renewal a few weeks ago and had to go in for a new pic and finger prints.
Aparently she had to do the same last renewal.
I thought everyone was using the RMV pic.

Omg I submitted Utah and had it in 3 weeks. You know how many people have Utah permits? Probably more than MA

Unsure of any changes (if any) in the new law, however, the prior law ONLY gave you unlimited grace period IFF the PD entered your data in MIRCS prior to expiration and gave the applicant the MIRCS receipt. Not when you drop off the papers. Some PDs just pile up the applications and let them set days/weeks/months before submitting them. If they submitted the application late, you only had 90 day grace period. As aggravating as it may be don't forget you are covered as long as you have the receipt showing you started renewal prior to expiration. It is crazy how different each city/town processes renewals though. I've only had to do mail ins and a one time in person paperwork handover ( different city) but few words were spoken, merely a formality.
Oh I applied on mircs. Show a pending appUse this page:

The one with the March date isn’t updated.
Agree- needed the receipt and also unsure if new more infringing laws changed that.Unsure of any changes (if any) in the new law, however, the prior law ONLY gave you unlimited grace period IFF the PD entered your data in MIRCS prior to expiration and gave the applicant the MIRCS receipt. I just meant the state “currently processing” metric. The site that says March isn’t accurate.Oh I applied on mircs. Show a pending app
That's still true in my understanding. Also worth noting - while you may have an infinite grace period, if you go to a shop (e.g., to buy ammo) during that period and the LTC fails to resolve (due to the new card being printed) the shop is now required by MGL C.140 S.123 (g) to confiscate your expired LTC and send it to the CLEO in the town where his shop is licensed.
