I know the Apex DCAEK kit is the way to go, but can I get away with just putting the APEX sear in? The gun is a M&P9 I traded into, with mag safety. Does the mag safety cause any problem with the trigger?
How about the S&W PC sear? Will that help? Thank you.

There are many posts on the net that will show you the way. The cheapest improvement is to replace the MA trigger return spring with a "free state" unit; cost is $2.75.

Are the PC parts even available? Im looking into a MP trade myself and really don't like the feel of the trigger. The "weight" doesn't bother me per say it just feels clunky to me.

The Apex sear replacement will work great. I installed it into my 1st M&P 4 years ago, it was night and day. I have since added about 15 more M&P's, most have different degrees of Apex kits installed. It's a great platform made better with the trigger improvements from Apex. The beauty of using Apex parts is you can always easily return your M&P to original config.. .

I removed the mag safety when I installed my Apex and it was easy. I don't think it needs to be done when installing the Apex kit but I don't remember for sure.

I have done trigger work on about 15 M&P pistols so far. I gave used the APEX duty/carry and comp kits as well as just shaping / polishing the stock parts. It is not too hard once you understand the inner workings. I always fix the mag "safety" as it is just silly. Standard trigger return spring helps quite a bit.

And the custom work of a Master Gunsmith (like Greg Derr) can run circles around a boxed solution like Apex, and for less money too.

+1, a ~4.5# Greg Derr trigger job made my M&P9c my favorite handgun and my primary carry piece. I absolutely hated the stock trigger and could not hit anything consistently with it.

Thanks guys, I love the M&P platform with a few trigger mods. I set them up to the taste of the shooter and test fire them after the work. The client gets a 30 day no hassle "I'll make it lighter if you need" guarantee with the work.

And your work can't be beat!!
