I contacted SIG about submitting the SAO P220 Match, SAO P220, and some of their 1911 (specifically the compact models with full size SS frame) variants - they said that the VP of sales plans on getting some submitted, though they couldn't give me anymore info.

If there are any SIG's you'd like to see made available here in MA... I suggest calling or e-mailing them. If you know someone at SIG, even better.

My thread on the MA compliant 556 obviously worked - or had some effect, so let's see what else we can do...

As someone who worships at the alter of Sig, I would like to see all those MA friendly ASAP.

BUT

MORE THAN ANYTHING:

Please, please, please....is it too much to ask to have a crack at the 250 without moving my entire life to another state?

Why haven't they put the SIG P220 Match series or the 1911 target model or the 226 X-Five in under the new target roster?

Mmmmmm.....

I'll believe it when I see them. Until then, vaporware. They could
get the 1911s done easy enough, though. (everyone else is selling them, why
not Sig?) IMO they should do those first as they're the easiest to certify, and
they'd also have the most legal recourse against the AG if they run into trouble,
because Para, S+W, and SVI are selling the things, so why can't they?

The P250? Forget it. They'd have to make the trigger stupidly heavy to
comply with the AG regs. Not happening. Would be nice if they got
on the list at least though, then at least that way some LEOs will buy
them, then dump a bunch of them on the secondary market.

What new roster? It is something like two months late. I guess they took the summer off over there on the hill. I am betting some more H&Ks will be on the new one at the very least so I doubt they can claim that there were no submissions.

No, that is the formal target roster, which is not "The List". The list is here http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/chsb/firearms/Approved_Firearms_Roster_ 03_2008.pdf
And it is from March. If you look at the naming convention (Approved_Firearms_Roster_%2003_2008.pdf), you will see that you can replace the 3 with 6,7,8, or 9 (12/1, 3, 6 & 9 being months it should be expected) and you will see 404 errors. If the firearms roster is out, I can't find it.

No point in the 250 or X-5 types. You can't get standard capacity mags for them. Right there a standard P229 is always better than a P250 for that reason alone. The X-5 might be fun for target practice, but I would rather see the effort go into getting updated or newer firearms that take pre-ban mags. Another reason I don't get the whole S&W M&P hype unless it's the compact that only takes 10 anyway.

I'll take the new P220 types with 5" barrels, the 1911's, both available with rails, and the new P226, 229's. All the new trigger systems as well (DAK, SRT, SAO)

I'd like to see some 8 and 10 round mags made for the P239 .357/.40 as well.

The X-5 Tactical doesn't have the magwell, so you're good to go with unmodified pre-ban mags.

Uh, ok, whatever. [thinking]

What if you allready have a 229, 226 and so forth?

What if you want a 250 because it exists and you love Sig products?

Then I suppose their might be a "point" in them. But thanks for figuring it out for the rest us.[rolleyes]

My e-mail to sig:

Greetings, I live in Massachusetts and was wondering if there are any plans for the Sig P250 to be released within our state.

Thanks,

Reply from Sig:

Dear Mr. "Jay Cee",
As of right now there are no plans to release it.
However, they are trying to come up with a design to make the gun CA complaint.
There is no say as to how long that may take.

Regards,
Natasha

You're at least 50% wrong here. The P226-X5 9mm takes regular P226
mags. I have preban mecgar flushfits, preban "SWAT" mags, and typical
"old school" preban 15 round P226 mags, and they all work in the X5.

Further, in competition there's no real reason why you couldn't run say a
.40 S+W X5 in USPSA L10 or something like that. That version of the
gun only holds 14 rounds with standard mags anyways, so it's not really
competitive in anything above L10 anyhow.

Further, even with the P250, in some frame variants you're only going to be
down a couple of rounds from standard anyways, so it's not a total loss
there. The subcompact P250 frame is probably less than 10 rounds anyways, at
least in .357 / .40.

I hate cripplemags as much as the next guy, but frankly being confined to
cripplemags is not a complete dealbreaker for me in a lot of cases.

I'm going to add the P226 X-5 Tactical to the list as well.

The answer I received was a "maybe" in the distant future...

It's easier to get the 22X series compliant, along with the 1911's. That said, if enough people in MA ask about the 250, the better.

Like with my 556 thread, if we can peak enough interest, I will forward this thread to SIG.

Of course I would prefer all of them. But if only a few could get in they might as well be ones that aren't neutered.

If the 250 compact only fits 10 anyhow than that one too (even though I hate DAO). You're welcome. [wink]

YEA! I want one! I would love .357Sig with a rail and a 5" barrel!!! Now that's a home defense handgun.

...they do come in .357Sig, right?

What is the opinion of the group as to if this may actually happen?

FWIW, even on the regular X-Five, you can remove the magwell if you want. It's not a permanent part of the gun. It just attaches onto the grip bushings on the bottom of the pistol. (At least it's this way on my "Competition" model. ) .

-Mike

The "Match" models simply beg to be submitted for inclusion on the Target Roster. It would take very little effort for SIG to make it happen; basically, the will to do so and a few hours time.

GOOD NEWS

The official word is that the last phase for approval is underway for some of their 1911 variants. These should be available to us in the first quarter of 2009.
