Does the AWB apply to NFA weapons?
Make that two evil features... ability to accept high capacity mags isn't one of the 5 countable features.Some of the laws about so-called "assault weapons" define the subjects of the laws in terms of certain characteristics. For example, the federal law (which became mass and ct state law) includes "any semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of..." and then lists five features or sets of features:
a folding or telescoping stock;
a pistol grip that protrudes "conspicuously" beneath the action of the weapon (whatever that means);
a bayonet mount;
a flash suppressor or a threaded barrel "designed to accommodate a flash suppressor";
a grenade launcher (which any rifle or shotgun can be)
