I know this is an odd question. But, is a mass ok saiga 12 worth it? Assuming no pistol grip and limited to 5 rounders. Does it have enough of the fun factor to make it worthwhile?

I shot Ripac's and it took every ounce of will to NOT run out and buy one. In fact just last week at Zero Hour, I saw one and had close my eyes and walk away.

I shot NWanners and wanted one immediately. My bank had other ideas though. I vote that you get one. I too have seen them for around 500, scoop it if you have the chance and a range with lenient policies because only when you can fully enjoy the smooth semi-auto action do you truly appreciate the Saiga 12.

In a word - YES!

Even without any modifications, it's fun as hell. I got mine at a show but there are deals to be found. The forum on saiga-12.com will make you drool.

But compared to what else is out there in a semi..

In the neutered configuration.. is it any better/ more fun, less recoil than an A5, law 12, maybe a cheap benelli ( possible contradiction there).

It's a 12 gauge AK.
IMNSHO that alone is reason enough to own one. I shoot mine in neutered condition with the hope that someday I'll either make the exodus to free America or the MA voters will pull their heads from their collective asses and things here will magically get better.

And even with no pistol grip and only 5 rounds, it's still one fun badass shotty.

excuse the newbie, but whats wrong with a T-6 adjustable stock with saw pistol grip, a 20 round drum, a quad rail, and a fore grip? {u.s.a. made parts}
cant wait to get mine!!!

Hi cap mags for this are illegal in mass as they are post ban. You also can't put a pistol grip or adjustable stock on a semi-auto shotgun in mass either.

A “large capacity feeding device” is defined the same as in federal law, or:
“a fixed or detachable magazine, box, drum, feed strip or similar device capable of accepting, or that can be readily converted to accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition or more than five shotgun shells; ... The term “large capacity feeding device” shall not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with,.22 caliber ammunition.”

Emphasis added.

So is the issue here that in order to have a magazine of greater than 5 rounds it needs to be pre-ban? And I am assuming that none exist.

I've been considering buying a Saiga and am starting to look at what my options are post-purchase.

I could post 100x more explosions of AR-15s than AKs on the internet because they are bigger pieces of shit.

Your video proves no point except that your acknowledgement to the world that you fear the AKM's superiority.

I mean, look at this guy. He obviously loves men. He's shooting an AR and flipping his hands too and fro like a typical AR fanboi.

Shh, don't tell anyone but every weapon platform has flaws and will, at some time, fail you... Even pump action shotguns.

BTW: Romeosierra616, Saiga 12's are very hit or miss out of the box. My friend and I bought two together and mine ate up everything I through in it with only one "modification" (Had to bend the hammer spring) and his still wont cycle bird shot. They are totally worth the work even if they are messed up; that being said, I really want to try out the MKA-1919 but doubt I'll get the chance.

Anyone know if they are considered MA "Assault Weapons"; I should think so, with the pistol grip and detachable box magazines.

No, they are not "assault weapons", as they cannot accept a magazine with a capacity in excess of 5 rounds (no such magazines exist)...

MGL 140-121 said:
"Assault weapon" shall have the same meaning as a semiautomatic assault weapon as defined in the federal Public Safety and recreational Firearms Use Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. section 921(a)(30) as appearing in such section on September 13, 1994 ... Provided, however, that the term assault weapon shall not include:

(vii) any semiautomatic shotgun that can not hold more than five rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine...

The bolded portion above negates 18 USC 921(a)(30)(D)(iv) (i.e. detachable magazine as an "evil" feature), for magazines with a capacity of 5 rounds or less.
