Mass MG license.

The process isn't any different for MG license than a LTC, so I would expect timing to be similar . . . for better or for worse!

I don't see any provision for a grace period. I think I'll allow at least four months. Jack.

Hmm, I think that you might be right about that . . . maybe.

Both LTC and MG License are listed under MGL C. 140 S. 131. The 90 day extension is mentioned before the MG License paragraph here. One could make the argument that it applies . . . and one could say because it isn't under that particular paragraph (or it falls before the eligibility paragraph for a MG License) that it doesn't apply at all.

Better safe than sorry.

I don't mean to hijack. My farther reapplied renewed or what ever you wanna call it early and it came in two weeks later ... He went to collectors and the told him he couldn't buy any thing he needed his ltc for during those two weeks... He was well under the 90day grace period is normal or store rules.

Nearly every FFL in MA will tell you to go screw while you are running under the grace period, so this isn't new. The grace period is really only for keeping you out of jail, nothing more, really.

Has anyone ever moved to a town with a MG and then had to renew and the police said we don't do machine guns here?

I haven't known of it happening personaly. Supposidly a cop in the town of plymouth who was a dealer got a new chief and the chief would not renew his MGN lic. So he had to get rid of his stuff. I would probably investigate my options throughly before moving to another town.

Oh and in keeping with the original intent of this thread last year it took 1 week.[smile]

I vaguely remember reading about a case where this happened, but I can't find it on westlaw. I might be wrong or recalling something totally different. But if anyone happens to know what I'm referring to I'd really appreciate the case name.
