All of us at Comm2A would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope that this holiday season will allow you the opportunity to relax and celebrate with those you love and care for.

2020 and Beyond

2020 has been a challenging year for us all, but out of the ashes comes the Phoenix, and the foundations for a good 2021 have been laid this past year. The Supreme Court failed to take up Comm2A's cases against the AWB, and restrictive municipal carry licensing policy, or any other Second Amendment case in the country of which there were many. Still, we continued moving forward on such issues as Powell v Stoughton (bonded warehouse practices) and Morin v. Lyver (lifetime ban for misdemeanor non-violent offenses).

Comm2A also filed a case that successfully challenged Baker's COVID-19 closures and shut-downs of gun stores, ranges, and firearms training. Due to Comm2A's case, the Judge issued an injunction preventing Baker from closing the gun stores. As a result of our actions, the Massachusetts State Police moved quickly to enable online training courses as acceptable for meeting the State mandated requirements for firearm licensing. The Dept. of Health applied more reasonable standards to outdoor ranges allowing the clubs to keep the outdoor ranges open. The case is still in court, and as a result of our case, we learned that Baker essentially used the WuFlu as an excuse to shut down gun sales.

But that isn't all that happened this year; we have begun cases to challenge the Red Flag law passed last year, an announcement will follow shortly, and the issue of what an 'arm in common use' is and what absurd bans they can enact by fiat will make an appearance again this year. With one more jurist on the Supreme Court, who appears interested in performing their duties as Judge and not legislating from the bench, 2021 is looking good.

2021 will also see Comm2A welcoming new team members including Nick as our social media manager as we increase our engagement efforts through all forms of media.

It's Not Too Late for that Last-Minute Tax Deduction

Supporting Comm2A is an easy way to get in that one last end-of-year tax deduction. Comm2A is entirely dependent upon the generosity of individuals for the work we do. The majority of our expenditures go directly towards underwriting the cost of legal and other professional services needed to plan and litigate our projects. While anti-Second Amendment groups can rely on the pro bono services of large corporate law firms, Comm2A generally utilizes independent attorneys who lack our opponents' corporate resources. If you're not already a member, please consider donating before year's end.
