MilSurp of the Month; May '13 - THE WINNER IS>>>

mx250man #1

While not really milsurp (though these were sometimes issued to officers in various branches of the armed services), certainly C&R. This is what prompted me to finally get my LTC and C&R. Been in the family a while and was being passed down (from out of state and not bequeathed). Model 1908 Colt Pocket Hammerless in .380, made in 1920. Added to my collection 6/12. As received:

Fitted with "correct" repro grips and replacement front sight:

Much nicer with the repro grips. Damn; now I think I need a M08 to compliment my M03 and M11 Colts. Means another caliber...

I hear you - I've got Browning designed semi-auto pistols in .22, .380, 9mm, and .45. I could use a M1903 and a M1905 to fill out .32 and .25! :)

Here's a '44 Remington Rand 1911A1, acquired Nov '12.

Chirp...Chirp...Chirp...

11 days, all quiet, way back on page 2. Is this thread done? Should we pick a winner and move on to a new topic?

I'll keep posting even if they won't win anything! I've posted pics of this here before so I'll just link instead of putting the pics up again.

This is a '45 Inglis HiPower made for the Chinese contract, but doesn't appear to have ever made it overseas (note the date error in the original thread - my other Inglis is the '44). Nice shoulder stock holster too. This is my most recent acquisition - Feb 2013.

Here's my entry. Argentine mod 1927-.45 acp. All matching nice finish. The trigger and slide release have been changed as well as the grips. Don't know how to post a better pic.

These are are a lot of collector hand guns bought by a few people in one month. Economy must be booming but by limiting the time frame you miss a lot of items we older guys have stored away. This looks like a $$$$$ bragging contest on a monthly TV show. Maybe I should start a post on what have you sold this month. LOL

Early non-step bbl first w/Rampant Colt and woodsman logo. #55XXX

We now have 25 entries with a couple of days to go.

Time to start thinking of the next category and any rule changes. I was thinking full length rifles, bolt actions.

Here's the template for voting: copy and paste in a pm to me. Refer to the list in the original post to make it easier for you; there are 27 candidates. A first place vote will count as 3 points, second -2, and third -1. I'll keep a running tally on my original post. Votes received through midnight on 5/31 will be counted.

Let the voting begin.

Conversely, voting can be public here and I will votes up to the first post - that is if you don't mind your vote being public.

Here is mine; a Steyr-Mannlicher M1905 used by the Argentinian military until it was replaced by the 1911 sometime in the 1910's:

Here is my vote:

1. majspud#1: 1917 M1911
2. mx259man: 1920 M08 Colt in .380
3. Marcus99: Argentinian Steyr-Mannlicher M1905

Runner up: Sorry to add this but it was a very very close decision between this one and my third choice. If it was a Webley made pistol it would have been #1. 45Collector: 1916 H&R self-loading 7.65

I based my votes on which guns I would most want to add to my collection.

Thanks to all who participated.

I will do this again for June - I am thinking revolvers.

1. Is there interest?
2. What rules should be added or changed? I think C&R (50 years/1963) or MilSurp (or perhaps reproduction thereof) should still apply.

Oops sorry I didn't vote guys. I haven't been on here much lately. I've been chatting with random chicks on Match.com. [laugh]

I have my first C&R shotgun waiting for me at the FEDEX office. I'll be picking it up tomorrow. If there's a July shotgun Milsurp of the Month, (or MOM) I'll enter that gun in.

There were some VERY nice firearms entered in this thread. Kudos to all. And congrats to the winner.

I'll have to ride out the Revolver show. None for me!
