Haven't seen anything about this dealer yet so figured I would post it.

Montague Ammo Depot (M.A.D.) is actually located in Greenfield on Deerfield St. (Routes 5/10). If you're going northbound it will be on the left side, big sign, can't miss it.

He just moved in from another building so he is still stocking up from what he told me, but he's got a great selection and is willing to negotiate on prices. I've bought two guns from him and acouple thousand rounds of ammo with no problems at all. Only day he's closed in monday iirc.

Just wanted to let all the western mass people know about this shop, cause there isn't many of them over here. [sad]

JUst a quick after action report, Nice shop The owner is a nice guy to talk to also. has Mil Surp ammo in stock, good prices on used pistols, (lots of police trade ins.) average prices on rifles for mass. I picked up a 1k box of wolf 7.62x39 for 179.00 I give it a thumbs up.

Doggone! I was just up there last week and came back down via 5/10. Can you pinpoint the location a little more for the next time I go north?

Let's say you're going north on Route 5/10, just entering greenfield and you're going over the bridge. Just keep looking on your left, there's a bunch of signs out side. If you go past Meridian St. bridge on you're left you've gone to far.

If you're going south, after you go by the Meridan St. bridge start looking on your right.

I don't have the exact number, but here's the general area. Its on the westide of the road. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.ad...EidfhYvDg3qcoOx9zF4u/O2Ub1aHtVC6f&ambiguity=1

you can try 413-775-9992 for better directions, but I think thats his number for his old place and am not sure if his new shops the same number.

Thanks for the info! I printed a map and am going to stick it in the truck for the next time I am up there.

I wonder if these guys took over from Jurek Brothers when they went to police sales only?

I think he might of, I heard Bruce (The owner) saying he had to go pick some stuff up from Jurek Brothers. Where his old shop was, Chapman St. wasn't that far away from Jurek Bros.

*edit*

I think he had the shop open like ten years ago and then closed down. He then opened it up again on Chapman st. in like 2005 I think, which was just supposed to be a temporary place (It was tiny). I think there's a thread in the hometown forums on ar15.com about it.

I'll put in my .02's worth. From a female perspective I would definately do business with him. Didn't treat me like a dumb female, actually talked to me and not down to me. He didn't make me feel like I shouldn't be there. Been in a few of those places. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all.
Nice guy to deal with.

I have yet to get over to bruce's new store but like mrswild said he is a good guy to deal with.i bought a new savage rifle off him in may of 2006,price was good.he opened back up after jurek bros. shut up shop to the general public,i also do believe he is or may have bought up some of their inventory.
if you are into the mil surplus he carries a good variety of ammo for the guns you may have and he also carries some of the rather odd ball cartridges some shops care not to carry.for example he has .32winspl ammo and 7-30 waters ammo, not to many stores carry cartridges in these calibers anymore.
if you are ever in the area he's worth the stop to see what he has.

Very nice guy... I bought a case of Wolf .223 from him back in may of 06 and it only cost me $129.00! His prices have gone up since then though BUT the store is nice and his attitude is top notch!

Thought I would give you guys a heads up that he is closing up shop, like pretty soon. So he's having a closing sale, 10% off guns, 20% off ammo. He already has great prices on ammo so with the extra 20% its a great deal. I scored a ton of 556 for a wicked good price. It's sad to see him go, he had the best prices on ammo in the valley and was an overall great gunshop.

He said that there are two guys who are trying/thinking of taking over and keeping the shop running.

A co-worker of mine was just at the ammo depot and was told the shop will be closed within the week if not sooner.
to bad i dont have any fun money he told my co-worker he is trying to clean out his stock as much as he can before he closes.

Yeah, unfortunately for us there isn't much fun money either. The house is taking precedence for us. Bummer he's going out of business.

Hey, Sue, this place is near you, right? I think I'll be out there as early as I can get up on Saturday to deliver your book...

Lessee... max loading for an airhead BMW is 22lbs in each saddle bag and 11 lbs on the luggage rack, so that's 55 lbs of ammo I can carry. [banana]

Yeah, it's not that far from us. 1/2 hour max. What time saturday? We go shopping at around 8, and are back by no later than 11. Depending on how many places we have to go. We bring Glenn's mom shopping with us. I'll pm you my addy.

Drove by today, thought I would update. Looks like nobody took over, as the shop was closed and there was a for rent sign in the front door. Sucks, one of the better dealers in the area...

Belive Bruce said he was going to sell cars..Don't know where though..Wish him luck and maybe he will be back in business somewhere at some time..

sell cars? there's a jump from selling guns.he should have stayed in the gun business, car sales are even harder to make a living on.

i, too, live in Franklin County. what do we have as options for gun shops in W. MA? i know of the Ware shop. and Personzal Defense Specialist in S. Hadley. is there anyone else?

Valley Sports in Easthampton and R&R Sports in Belchertown come to mind. Jimmy Squid is still in Chicopee but has some odd hours. AAA in West Springfield and Auto Sports in Agawam. One or two places out in Berkshire County that I can't remember right now.

There is Dave's pioneer in Northampton. Mainly more of a sport/hunting shop though. Not many handguns, or EBRs though.
