What is the best way to attached a muzzle brake to a barrel (threaded) that may allow it to be changed out down the road by a gunsmith? if its tacked in place, is pinning it necessary?
To weld a muzzle device the ATF wants a weld bead around the circumference or to pin it and weld over the hole. This way you will be able to be able to drill or mill out the weld. You could also braze it or high temp silver solder but drilling a small hole for the pin and then tack welding the hole closed is the fastest method.
century sells wasrs to AWB states with one tiny bead of a tack connecting muzzle nut to sight block.
however PTR sell their guns drilled, pinned and welded over. go figure.
Just remembered. Johnny from PrecisionPoint in woburn is about to offer or maybe already offering muzzle device pin/weld surface. I think i've seen the talk about it somewhere on here some time ago. Just a heads up, you might wanna get in-touch with him if you have the need.
