So I've finally gotten around to taking pictures. I inherited this from my Papa who brought it home from WWII. He served in the 63rd Infantry and fought in the battle of the bulge. I had been thinking about getting my LTC for a long time and when he passed away I found out he had this so I decided to stop procrastinating and make sure it got a good home. I brought it to Four Season and had the gunsmith there look it over to make sure it was safe to use or if it would be a safe queen. Well let's just say it's been to the range a few of time since then [smile]. To the best of my knowledge my Papa never used it and from what the gunsmith said it's practically new. It is a John Inglis Browning Hi-Power MKI. As you can see aside from holster wear (it was stored in a leather holster and sat in a dresser drawer for 50 odd years) it is in phenomenal shape. The serials all match and it has the original style magazine with the metal follower and the John Inglis initials on the base plate. The grips are original and the rear sight is part of the slide. Hope you like the pics.

That is freaking CHOICE! And then passed down from one generation to the other? Man, it just does not get any better!

[smile] I knew you guys would appreciate it. It'll definitely be staying in the family though I have 2 boys so we'll see how that plays out down the road. And it will be showing up to the next shoot that I make it too so feel free to say hi and put a few down the pipe.

What a great thing to remember your Dad by. Do you know anything about it's history and how he got it?

Actually Papa was my maternal grandfather. Dad was always just dad [grin]. All my grandfather ever said about it was that he got it from someone who "no longer needed it" . At first I assumed he got it off of a dead German but given it was manufactured in Canada after the Germans had taken over the FN plant in Belgium it probably was a Brit or Canadian soldier. Unless of course he got it from a dead German that had gotten it from a dead Brit or Canadian.
