"Firepit from amazon boxes and storm brush? No problem Dad I got this!"So my son is turning 16 this year and this is what I'm planning to give him for his birthday.
So, the questions is.... will I be father of the year, or poster child for DCF.

The barrel is corked. Anyone have advice on how and whether to remove it? I don't plan on shooting it, but it seems counterintuitive to have a non readily functional gun.View attachment 687409
Just gifted to me by my wife's uncle. Danzig M1809 / 20 Musket. I am more of a contemporary black guns / SBR kind of guy, but this thing is cool and I wish it could tell me where it's been!
Put it in a vice, stand off to the side of the muzzle as if it’s still loaded (just in case) and see if a ball puller will work. The barrel is corked. Anyone have advice on how and whether to remove it? I don't plan on shooting it, but it seems counterintuitive to have a non readily functional gun.
Love my 57 Classic, just watch out for the ejector rod, mine started backing out and I couldn't get the cylinder open until I figured out what was happeningShout out for kag arms on this one. After wanting one since the 70s, I finally got this one Saturday. S&W M29

Put the new recoil spring and rings in the gun today. On the 3 inch setting it cycled 3 inch duck loads and 3 inch buck no problem. Also put some high brass 1 1/4 ounce game loads through it and even woth the rings set on 3 inch loads it Cy led them fine. Nice and smooth. I compared the old bronze rings with the new ones and you can tell the old ones were worn down just by looking at them didn't even need to use my calipers to measure lolBrowning a5 magnum aesthetically in horrible shape. But for $149 I had to take it home. Bore is actually rust free and so is the action. It's seen alot of use its not just rust from being in a safe. The checkering is worn smooth on the forend from use. Pix are after the first pass with wd40 and some bronze brushes to remove what I could of the surface rust. It's missing 3 of the friction pieces which I can order from Brownell but for now it can be set up to cycle 2 3/4 high brass. To cycle 3 inch loads I'll have to order the ring set. I may try my hand at re bluing......or just leave it. Either way......she'll never be pretty......but I got a functioning a5 magnum for $149.
edit. Just left the club it cycles perfect
