After being a safe queen for 3+ months, I finally got a chance to shoot it and write up my range review. Here is my IWI tavor. She is currently wearing eotech 552 with 3x magnifier. It's has a pinned Rainier XTC compensator.

I'm using 2 kinds of ammo.
1. IMI M193 60 rds
2 Federal XM193 60 rds

Target distance : ~27 yards

Shooting position : Standing or Arm rest on the shooting bench

After 60 rounds. Nothing to rant, just a smiley face. The rifle performs flawless. Only flaw is my optic setup. The magnifier sit too close and the recoil lightly bump my shooting glass.

Overall, I run 4 @ 30 rds evil 'clips'. The barrel heat up pretty good and smoke a bit. I'm very happy with this rifle and it's sure a keeper. My current optic setup is not ultimate and I hope to switch the optic to a 1-4x scope. The stock trigger is not as good for my taste and I already jump on the Timney trigger GB. Will do another range review after getting the Timney trigger installed.

Very nice setup.
i am jealous!
tavor is on my wish list possibly mid May we shall see

I put about 700 rounds through mine and its an excellent gun... still planning on selling it though lol. I prefer my ARs and old habits die hard. The money will be well spent on other guns of course.

Glad you like it. I have an EXPS3-0 and magnifier on mine, which I will probably keep for the SBR.

got mine at atlantic firearms, shipped to 1776 to pin/weld the brake. I know B&K sells them. you can get them online and shipped to ffl. just needs a brake to be mass compliant. or buy them in nh to avoid taxes too.

Not qualified as a pistol grip not one of 2 evil features so no need for brake.

Even if this fantasy was true, if the FH is removeable you still have 2 evil features to deal with, the FH and the threaded barrel that lies beneath it.

Funny...? My FFL checked with the state and they said otherwise.

Checked with the state? You mean with some hack at EOPS (or CJIS) whose opinion is not legally binding? [rofl] I think this AWB crap is stupid, but if you're one of the folks that likes to pay super close attention to being compliant with the law, the state is the last source I would trust.

Glad you think the cluster F of MA gun 'laws' are so Fn funny, this general attitude reason number 25,002 to get out of this ****hole and back South ASAP

If an FFL can't get an answer than who can??

I'll ask Lens. Trust the NES.

Probably not the case. There is a list of features, and a flash hider OR threaded barrel to accomadate... are listed in one line, and OR makes me think they can count one or the other.

Yeah, now reading the law it looks like you're right. It counts as "one thing" if a flash hider is in play.

A couple of things...

First, maybe this is specific to MA but FFLs are pretty useless as a source of legal advice. I've experienced this firsthand.

Also, the grip and handguard on the AUG (the same exact design as the Tavor) has always been interpreted as a pistol grip in every discussion I've ever seen on the topic. The AUG also made all the AWB lists and Steyr even modified the AUG into the USR (turned the pistol grip into a thumbhole stock of sorts) to comply with the federal AWB.

Since this stuff is always open to some interpretation, I'm going with that precedent.

Awesome.

I love the Rainier XTC, have one on my 14.5" build. It really keeps the muzzle down, almost like a 22lr. How does it perform on the Tavor?

Stay on topics. Pricing is not relevant when reviewing a rifle.

I know a lot of others have this rifle. Let's hope they chime in. Do you agree/disagree or like/dislike about IWI Tavor.

Since when? Something that's a cool toy at $300 would be a ripoff at $3000.

I'm not looking for smart purchase advice. I'm looking for rifle review, especially Tavor. If you like to start a thread about smart purchase advice, go ahead. No pricing is discuss here.

Ive only taken mine out for a 1 day workout, so far.

Once shouldered the rifle is very comfortable. You kind of have to hold it like an AK - shoulders square to the target, not like an AR where your strong shoulder is rearward - at least I found that a little more comfortable when using the forearm rest. The forearm rest, though a little odd at first, is a nice stable platform and very comfortable. Just sit the rifle on your arm, lock it in your shoulder and you can stay there nice and stable for a while. Using the forearm to steer between targets is also a nice feature. The stock iron sights were nice to have, but not that great. The trigger is a little heavy, but a good finger can still make it work. I didn't notice all that much take up and the linkage didn't present any noticeable negative effects - granted this is no single stage AR trigger, but its not that terrible. I used an AIMpoint PRO and RMR optic - both co-witnessed the irons 100% - which was nice. Swapping out mags is a little different, but with some practice you can get pretty fast with it. The bolt release button being right there is a good configuration - once you get used to it. Recoil was very manageable (I run a BCM Mod 1 comp) and recoil was soft and rearward. Muzzle flip was minimal. I wasn't really working on speed shooting or transitions per se, but I figure you can get as quick with this rifle as an AR.

That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.
