My IWI Tavor range review

It looks like a Ranier XTC brake, which may be too much for the shorter length of the Tavor. A compensator may be more appropriate with less concussion and noise.

Any Competent FFL should know the answer

Alfred what brake did you put on yours? I have one here I just need to mAssify it

Anyone interested on the 9mm conversion kit? Sound fun to shoot 9mm out of tavor.

interested just not worth $850 in my opinion. i can find 556 easier then 9mm. typically buy 9 for .28 a round and get 223 for .35-.37

If cost (conversion kit or ammo) is not a factor. Would you still consider another caliber for the tavor? My thinking is if I want to have multiple calibers on AR, why not on the Tavor. If I'm looking to build a 9mm AR, I will get the Tavor 9mm conversion instead. I have been lurking interested on building a 9mm AR. The selection for 9mm AR is very limited. The tavor 9mm conversion seems to fit in.

I'd be interested but I haven't researched it at all, so I don't know what's involved. Who makes the conversion? Is it an easy on, off setup? What type of mags are used? Can it be fitted for Uzi mags?
I see a huge benefit, as a reloader, to have the ability to utilize 2 calibers. Not to mention how cool it will be. [laugh2]

Cost aside, I agree the 9mm tavor conversion is cool. I mean who wouldn't want to have 2 Tavors setup identically, one for 9mm and the other 5.56? Pretty dope.

My only thing with shooting a pistol caliber is that there are some great pistol caliber carbines that probably out-do the tavor in 9mm especially since it will be quite heavy to shoot 9mm (unless the conversion drops the weight, but same bolt system?). As mentioned above I am unfamiliar with the magazine system for Tavor-9mm?

After years of poo-poo'ing the PC-carbines, I've gone 180 and love them now. The CX4 storm in 9mm is such an amazing weapon. Even my Hi Point 995TS is awesome. The JR-carbine would be fantastic but it's unbalanced in my hands. I think it will be tough for the Tavor-9mm to beat out the current options of PC-carbine. I just don't think that being a bullpup gives it the same advantage when firing 9mm (advantage more when comparing to other 223 options).

Just my 2c, what the hell do i know.

Can I borrow for car shoot ......

Lol you know you love me .

Yes, I luv you more than your partner. Unfortunately, I won't be at the car shoot this month. Will try my best to attend the next one. Rifle will be on the table. You're welcome to send some lead to the car target.

The conversion kit is available now and offered by IWI US. It's consist of barrel, bolt/bolt carrier, and mag adapter. It take colt AR 9mm mag (modified UZI mags). Not sure about how hard to do the conversion. If I ever get one of this kit and do a conversion, I will do a write up/review.

Lol had to ask .

The conversion takes a few mins to swap the parts over . That crazy fast shooting guy for s&w has a video.

If you get the kit , but a bunch of pre ban mags and I can mod them for you as you waits since I got a mill etc .

I like how you describe Jerry as "crazy fast shooting guy". [laugh][laugh][laugh]

I already start my UZI mag collection and you will find me at your door step soon. [wink]

That's one thing I love about the Tavor. Stupid easy to clean, caliber conversion swap, etc. That mixed with a trigger upgrade makes this rifle orgasmic. But I need to open up a new credit line up first [laugh]

cost aside.. hell yeah! but I unforunitly do not shoot enough to off set the cost. not to mention the 5.56 if far superior to 9mm. although 9mm would be cool to just blast away. .22 lr would be hella sweet too

Fedex guy just drop off a box in front of my door.

Nice, I am trying to find a Left Hand Bolt, no luck though.

From IWI site, you need to send in your rifle and they will convert the rifle to left handed. Did you try this route? As for 9mm conversion, you will need the 9mm conversion kit. No extra part needed for 9mm left handed conversion.

To have your TAVOR SAR converted from right hand to left, or left hand to right, you will need to return your rifle to IWI US, purchase an opposite hand bolt from IWI US, and IWI US will perform the conversion free of charge. Your TAVOR will be returned to you after the conversion with your original bolt packed with the rifle. Both bolts will be properly head-spaced for your barrels.
