Well, I decided I wanted something a little different as my final USPSA revolver project.

I was really not enjoying ESR division in IDPA so I sold one gun and made the other my project.

With the help of 10MM Dave, I got a 6" 25-2 barrel that looked like it had never been on a frame. I couldn't find where the sight pin was and neither could the gunsmith I had help me.

The Miculek 625 I had for IDPA already had a good action but I tweaked it a little more and added my .400 serrated trigger, bobbed the hammer, reamed the cylinder, 45 degree chamfer, polished what needed to be polished, and set the trigger pull light enough that I can still handle it without short stroking.

Since I don't have the tools for the barrel change, I brought it to a gunsmith and told him what I wanted to do. He fit the barrel and set the gap close for me. Cut the forcing cone and dove tailed in a fiber optic front sight. We had a lot of discussion on the height of the sight. I have the LPA rear sight so I wanted something narrow and fiber optic.

We chose a .285 height Dawson .100 wide sight for a Springfield XD. This ended up to be the perfect choice. When the barrel was mounted, it needed only a couple windage clicks of the rear sight to zero it. He set the sights when he test fired it.

I got it back yesterday and tried it out today in a match. Damn it shot nice. Only thing left is to send it to Robar for a full NP3 treatment and it will be done. That will be some time over the winter so for now it is a Pinto.

Thanks to 10MM Dave for the barrel, and a big thanks to Greg Derr for some very nice work fitting the barrel and sight.

That's an interesting mix!!! It's like a new school gun with an old school twist. Actually, what am I saying... you can't mix "New School" and revolver in the same sentence. HAHA Looks pretty awesome!!!!

Cool. Can't wait to see it after the np3 treatment. That long sight radius would be sweet for plates and/or pins.

-Cuz.

Errrr. Hard chrome is far from cosmetic. There are very few stronger surface finishes.

Your gun, your choice, but hard chrome is not the flaky plating you see on car bumpers.

I am familiar with Hard Chrome and have had it on firearms before. I did not say it Is cosmetic, I said it would be cosmetic. That is as is related to this project.

NP3 is a very different process with many additional properties. If you are not familiar with it, go to the Robar site. They do both.

For this project, NP3 is the ideal treatment. Revolver parts need certain properties to maintain fit and function.

Have you ever prepared a 5# double action trigger pull? If not, try it some time. It is a lot of work and protecting that work is very important to me.

Thanks for the help [rolleyes]
