To start with if you are thinking of doing a project like this, remember any money you put into the rifle you are never going to get it back.I started with a Remington 1917 mosin that was cut down at one time.I had a muzzle break installed,PE scope mount, turned down spoon style bolt handle.Removed the rear sight and I cut down and refinished a 91/30 stock. I am using the scope from my PE sniper for now, until I pick up another scope set up with one inch rings.

I think it looks pretty good. I prefer this to the ones with the aftermarket Monte Carlo stocks. How much weight do you lose by taking off all that wood?

If I ever pick up another Mosin with a bad stock, I could see myself doing one like this.
