My older .38sp.

I would not tempt faith... I too have one of the older S&W snubbies and I am perfectly happy using the .38 specials...

Just my 2 cents...

How old is older?

Unless it's a real fossil, conventional wisdom is that you can run a little +P through it to see how it feels, and carry +P, but practicing all the time with hotter loads is going to be what causes a problem, if in fact a problem is going to develop.

I learned this in researching what to carry in my 70's Airweight.

Not sure of the age, I would guess in the 60's when it was made.
It's that I've seen others that have the engraving on the barrel .38sp+p. Mine is just.38sp.

Carry +P in it with confidence.

In fact, shoot enough +P to get comfortable with the recoil and to refamiliarize yourself with it every now and then.

You won't hurt it.
