I have a older model S&W .38sp snubbie. Some models are rated for +p loads, not sure if mine is or not. Should I never use that type of ammo?

How old is older?
Unless it's a real fossil, conventional wisdom is that you can run a little +P through it to see how it feels, and carry +P, but practicing all the time with hotter loads is going to be what causes a problem, if in fact a problem is going to develop.

Not sure of the age, I would guess in the 60's when it was made.
It's that I've seen others that have the engraving on the barrel .38sp+p. Mine is just.38sp.

Carry +P in it with confidence.
In fact, shoot enough +P to get comfortable with the recoil and to refamiliarize yourself with it every now and then.
