A couple of weeks ago I picked up this used NAA Guardian .32 ACP. Saturday I took it to the range for the first time to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised. First let me preface this by saying that I would only carry this little gun as a 2nd or even 3rd gun, if at all. So before some wag starts giving me the "defensive rounds start with .4" routine or the "get a j frame" rap save your breath. I may never even carry it. Still, for some reason it intrigued me.

This NAA is extremely well made. Fit and finish is excellent. A solid little piece. I dug through my safe and packed up a bunch of .32 ammo, a box of UMC FMJ, Fiocchi FMJ, Winchester Silver Tips and a box of Buffalo Bore +p's. When I got to the range I fired a couple of magazines of UMC just to get the feel then put it down and fired a few other pistols that I had brought. At the end of the session I went to work with the NAA. I thought about how I might carry it and how it might be used. If it ever came into play at all it would be under desperate circumstances at very close range. The assumption being that my primary (or even secondary) gun had either failed or was empty. I would also assume that I would be pulling the trigger until it did not go bang anymore. With these thoughts in mind I put a 5.5" shoot n c on a target and paced off roughly 10 - 12 feet. Luckily I was alone at the range, freezing temperatures have that effect, so no one got to laugh at my impersonation of an old Chic Gaylord photo. I placed the NAA in my jacket pocket and then began practicing. I would draw from the jacket pocket, moving laterally and go into a low crouch with a one handed grip and fire as fast as I could. That little sucker is wickedly fast to shoot given the light recoil. I took several breaks to warm my hands up, but in the end I fired all of the ammo that I had with me and wished I had brought more. It was that much fun to shoot.

So in the end I had put 170 rds of ammo through it at rapid fire without a single ftf or fte. One of the UMC rounds did stovepipe on ejection, but it was the very last round in the magazine and did not effect anything. Also when I was done all shots were within the 5.5" and in fact could be almost covered by my palm. Not bad for a tiny pocket pistol with rudimentary sights. It pointed very naturally for me.

So that is my range report. I am certainly not endorsing the NAA Guardian as a good self defense choice, but it was sure a lot of fun to shoot.

I love mine and carry it daily. I too had it sent back to the factory to get rid of the sights. It is a point and shoot gun, plain and simple.

If I may make a suggestion for carry (and everyone has their own preference) I got an Alessi Pocket Holster, and carry in my back pocket. The gun, with holster, prints just like a wallet.

I have one and it's my jeans and a shirt summer gun. I have a pocket holster and it just disappears. The last round stove pipe is common.

My only complaint is weight. I'd go with a Kel-Tec p32 if I could go back in time...
