I've worn Danners almost exclusively for ~5 years now. I wear the USAF TFX safety-toe (made offshore) daily at work, and a pair of temperate Acadias (US-made) outside of work.
They are waterproof, extremely light and very soft and comfortable. They are durable too, though the laces wear out pretty quick. I have heavier, insulated boots for the cold weather but you can't beat these for everyday wear.
So 6 months later... These are hands down the best boots i have ever worn. That super sole is wearing less than anything I've used on pavement. The leather is a bit soft and cuts easy but after regular conditioning it toughened up. Will buy again for sure.
I took a gamble and bought a pair of Converse C8895 duty boots--I was shocked and the comfort and fit. I'm office bound most days but spend a fair amount of time outdoors off hours and they haven't let me down yet. Bought them from eBay dealer BoTach (they have a standard web presence too) and a) paid almost half of Amazon pricing and b) had zero issues with the transaction. I'll be buying another pair--here's a link:
I wear these for work, composite toe version that is also EH rated. So far so good. I believe Reebok has the contract to make these now.
If you don't need a safety toe the i would get the LL Bean Cresta Hikers. Solid boots. Add a pair of gaiters and you should be able to handle anything just by changing your type of socks.
