Never been a revolver guy, but I think Im in LOVE!!!

Get some nice wooden grips now and you will be all set

Whats with wood grips? For functionality which is better wood or rubber? My interest in a revolver is the same as my interest in an AK or Glock, it just needs to work.... ( although if it can work and look cool thats fine with me as well! )

Well, erh, you could do the nasty with plain Jane or, if you'd rather, with the gorgeous sister. Both of 'em will get you there but one is just , you know...

My point was, is rubber superior grip and recoil wise and wood is just for show? Ihad a J frame with wood grip and it did last in my safe very long.... They werent very comfortable at all.

As long as you aren't firing .357 out of it, either will work fine.

they revolvers and wooden grips just go together like peanut butter and jelly

Lockup is tight. Shows no sights of forcing cone wear.

Great score. I'm new so forgive my ignorance...What is forced cone wear? My next gun will be a revolver, a Smith J frame, and if I find something used I would like to know what to look for. Thanks in advance.

The K frames S&W revolvers were designed for a .38spcl load and adapted for .357mag load.... specifically heavier 158grain .357mag loads. As lighter, faster .357 loads were designed due to the shape and size of the forcing cone ( the first fart of the barrel the bullet contacts as it leaves the cylinder when fired ) This caused excessive wear and cracking of the barrel. From what ive read blued guns vs stainless were more prone as were earlier models.

Personally, I wouldnt spend the extra money to get a J frame in .357 as the snub nose loads in .38spcl are very powerful

Thanks DRB. Thats what I'm getting is the .38. It's taking long enough to save for that, let alone the .357,lol.

A .38 snubnose revolver is often best purchased used. Most people dont shoot them very much and if you buy S&W or Ruger the MFG will still take care of there firearm if it breaks. Many shops will have used J frames ( airweights ) or Ruger LCR for mid to low $300

Great deal! I love my smith .357. I definitely paid a lot more than three hundred dollars! I traded in an old model 19 that was really beat up and they gave me more than that for the trade. Enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!
