I guess my main question is should I wait until this AWB stuff passes (latest I have been reading is that most of it will be blocked) or go into panic mode and buy now with inflated prices and short supply?

There are shops getting in rifles, and selling them for less than MSRP. You just have to keep an eye open, and be one of the first in line. A&J had plenty of Troy rifles. At over $2k each, there're probably plenty of them left.

availability for everything is spotty, try to get what you can. If i was looking for a good gun for the house i would go shotgun, if you are going for a rifle for all kinds of work not limited to the home i suggest an M&P ORC or a Sport. great way to get your feet wet, the guns are (or used to be) affordable and run great! And from there you can drain your bank account to accessorize it

I thought I saw threads on Four Seasons getting a lot of the M&P Sports. I seem to recall they were getting ~100 at a time and they were flying out the door. Maybe put down a deposit to reserve one.

Or if you can find a bolt carrier group, you can start your build there .

If you are in the area of four seasons I would stop by and inquire like Todd said, or start a built! things are trickling back into the market at non retard prices, just keep looking!
