Not sure if, or how, this helps us, but I can't imagine it will hurt. Right?

"The Solicitor General of the United States represents the federal government in cases before the Supreme Court and conducts oral arguments in these cases. They also supervise and conduct government litigation in the United States Supreme Court, and virtually all such litigation is channeled through the Office of the Solicitor General. The Solicitor General determines which cases the government will seek review in the Supreme Court and the positions the government will take before the Court. Additionally, the office prepares petitions, briefs, and other papers filed by the government in the Supreme Court."

Add to the above, the shrinking of the ATF. I typically can't stand this guy, but this one is OK. He could have said the same thing in 1/4 the time, but it seems like good (though not major or breaking) news:

And, one of the things he mentions, is that the solicitor general was not confirmed yet, which has now just happened yesterday. A couple more positions seem to still be unconfirmed, though.
