I know that airguns are not considered firearms by any state or federal definition, and therefore shouldn't be subject to our storage laws, but is there any law or legal precedent which would make it illegal, or gray area-ish, for one to store them on a rack on the wall, unlocked and in plain view inside of ones residence?

It seems like it would be about as much of a nothingburger as having a flintlock on the wall, but they do tend to look kinda like conventional, modern guns...

How does your insurance company feel about your plans?

Not necessarily the only or best form of tortious negligence applicable.

But if you already do things like
leave an extension ladder propped up against the house all winter long
because you're too lazy to put it away between snowfalls
after clearing the roof to prevent ice dams,
it's a start of your edumacation.

If someone visits and sees gunzzz on the wall, they are likely to "see something, say something" to the PD, who are obligated to investigate. Most cops wouldn't know the difference between an airgun and a real gun, so it can get ugly. Certainly not worth it unless you just like to "push buttons" to make a political point.

which is why OP needs to limit his visitor circle of friends to freedom loving people. Also, get that "do you have a warrant?" welcome rug in case popo does show up to investigate.
