Appreciate that. I wasnt very confident that that type was for him, I don't know much about the subject. just figured huge sight easy to find, etc.holo sights are typically the worst for astigmatism.

a cheap 3x prism with a reticle is usually the best simple solution.Appreciate that. I wasnt very confident that that type was for him, I don't know much about the subject. just figured huge sight easy to find, etc.
That's one of the optics I'm considering.. i thought it was very clean and crispI'd be interested to see if the OP has tried green reticles, I've read that the green helps a lot.
If you Google it you will find many discussions on this, might be worth a try
You could buy one and if it doesn't help then return it.
Vortex makes the Spitfire Prism which has a large circle and a smaller circle inside, you have both green and red options and the circle are thin so your not looking at a thick reticle, it's kind of busy for my taste but it's built like a tank.
i just received one more 1-6x arken lh-6 and i got to say it is my favorite crap beater out optic right now, as long as they going to keep it under $200.for the new GLx 1x prism
That reverse dong hand stop absolutely fcuks.View attachment 928226
The top rifle has the Vector, the bottom 2 are the Cyclops.
I use a riser mount on mine and no magnifier as you can see, if I'm thinking I want a magnifier I will go without it and just do an LPVO or a 3x or 5x prism as is.
Personal choice but in my experience magnifiers just flat out suck
I had really thought I was gonna go with a 1-6 for my 16". Instead I'm shifting an aimpoint pro w/magnifier and that vortex 3x prism around.i just received one more 1-6x arken lh-6 and i got to say it is my favorite crap beater out optic right now, as long as they going to keep it under $200.
really makes no sense to get anything less than this lpvo at this price. 20oz weight, though. not too light, not too heavy.
It's the eye relief that kills me. Even with the aimpoint 3x magnifier and 3x prism. I really wanted to go to a T2 or some kind of micro and a magnifier. We'll see!choices, choices...
all good prisms i like are way more than $200. closer to a $400 in fact. and money matter. i may get one more 1-6x and unify all the rifles that were on crappy sights.
i pretty much consolidated most onto arkens now. venom is now out of circulation, and one of 1-6x is spare, all the rest is mounted on.

What is the rationale behind placing the optic so high?View attachment 928226

I have the optic forward and when I bring the rifle up I have a clear view of the reticle and can also see the field of view surrounding the optic as well. What is the rationale behind placing the optic so high?
(total rifle n00b here)
You also have the advantage if your dot mount has an embedded iron, you can use a flip up instead of flip to side magnifier, and sometimes you can get your dot wearing SCBA, although it can still be tricky even with a riser.I have the optic forward and when I bring the rifle up I have a clear view of the reticle and can also see the field of view surrounding the optic as well.
Being shamefully honest I first saw this watching a GBRS video, and figured I'd try it out but about 3/4 less than how high they have their set ups and I kind of liked it.
I set all my dots up this way for consistency, I'm not a phenominaly great rifle shooter but I tried it for awhile and it works for me
Well I got the QD mount so if optic goes down it's a flip of the mount and it's offYou also have the advantage if your dot mount has an embedded iron, you can use a flip up instead of flip to side magnifier, and sometimes you can get your dot wearing SCBA, although it can still be tricky even with a riser.
Even better !Well I got the QD mount so if optic goes down it's a flip of the mount and it's off
You get to tell everyone you own an ACOG.Well, I did it. Officially an ACOG guy now. Do I get some kind of faux operator patch or something? I hope it performs as well as it looks. Just waiting for Santa to deliver it.
I think the elcan specter is the flex in that type of optic.Well, I did it. Officially an ACOG guy now. Do I get some kind of faux operator patch or something? I hope it performs as well as it looks. Just waiting for Santa to deliver it.
