+P ot of my Auto Ordnance 1911A1, is it safe?

Am I alright to shoot +P round in my current production Auto Ordnance 1911A1?

If so, is there anything I Should avoid?

What does the Auto Ordnance say? I'd ask them.

The booklet say only 230gr. FMJ

but from what I've heard thats the what most manufacturers say to cover themselves from legal action.


EDIT: I read a review that said the author fired all sorts of ammo and loads, but still wanted to ask for advise, to be safe

Yes. It's safe. The only risk you take is that very hot loads (+P+, usually) will cycle the slide too fast and you'll get mis-feeds with the stock recoil spring.

There's no real safety implications.

You can also shoot one round and look for signs of overpressure on the casing when it is ejected.
