Ported pistol barrels

Considering a 357 sig barrel for my M&P. Are ported barrels worth it ? Any real performance increase/recoil decrease or does it just look cool ??

For a range gun there cool, helps with muzzle jump. In "real world" they make your pistol louder, and cause way to much muzzle flase to ruin your night vision.

It depends on the barrel. Some work, some are for show

I have 2 revolvers that are ported one in 44 mag and the other 454 Casull and the porting does reduce recoil,but the flash is somewhat increased, Can't say to muzzle blast because of hearing protection. I've had complaints about a ported AR because of muzzle blast though.
