Has officially made it to NES this morning, and I'm not talking about Glocks in mass. Someone insert a giant face palm here for me. I guess I can't blame anyone for trying to take advantage it certainly is an opportune time, I just feel sick that something someone bought for 800-100 bucks is no worth 1800 or 100 is now worth 300. ITs insane.

There is no such thing as price gouging. An item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. And, the seller has the right to ask whatever he wants.

You have to be smart.

I'm just keeping track of businesses that's abusing (gouging) the situation, due to the talk of AWB

After it's all over, remember those companies, and never support or do business with them, and inform others of such activities.

Yes and I'm a big believer in that, and I bet in this panic buy time people will pay it. Im just amazed, I thought Id see it from dealers (i was too young in 1994) but not from NES guys. So Im naive I guess.

Not a bad plan. I just didn't expect to see it here on NES I guess. Thought some how we were above it, but hey I'm Naive.

I'm keeping track too. The ones that are good business men and making a profit in a tough business when they can are the ones who will still be in business in years to come.

Go capitalism!!!

The ones not raising prices must be socialists... Those are the ones to avoid.

For some reason you think that people should just be selling you stuff at a "fair" price - even though there's obviously other people out there willing to pay the seller a lot more than that.

So basically you're thinking the seller should get screwed so that you can get a deal.

This is what happens when you go to public school and listen to what they say - and spend too much time living in MA.

Why don't you campaign for collective firearm price bargaining law? Or price regulation law. Or whatever. But something needs to be done to these greedy capitalist pigs!
How about "Occupy a gun shop" movement?[rofl]

I don't expect anyone to sell me anything for less than they can get from someone else, I just think its ridiculous to assume some one will do it, but you know, someone will pay it, which is the most ridiculous thing. I thought most people on this site were more well informed than someone who isn't, realizing its really not worth that.

A local shop is charging over double the regular price of gen 2 pmags and people are paying it. It sucks out there right now for parts.

Supply and Demand people... If you want it? BUY IT! If you dont then DONT! Its that simple. The opinion of it being fair or unfair based on whether you have the money or not is ridiculous... Sorry but everyone is entitled to make as much money as they can. Obama voters and people who live off of OBAMAS "handout" policies would disagree but thats what SOCIALISM is all about...

Hey I think sports teams gouch the heck out of people for tickets to games but as long as idiotic sports fans keep BUYING them, then they will keep on raising the prices! DONT HATE THE PLAYER... HATE THE GAME!!

I understand where JMH is coming from. Some people are honest enough to ask a fair price, especially to others that share their hobby/passion. If it wasn't for a nice and fair dealer yesterday I would not have gotten my evil black rifle. He had offers of double what it was marked but he still held it for me until could get there after work. For that I am grateful. If it wasn't for his fair price and good business ethic then I would be empty handed when/if a ban begins. There is no way that I could afford buying an evil black rifle with all of the increased prices.

Thanks for your idiotic response, from the peanut gallery are you ?

As nowhere in my post do I suggest any regulations or government involvement.

Do you want to try again ?

There's a big difference between making an agreement with somebody to sell something at a certain price - and honoring that agreement - and having a product sitting there - putting a price on it - no matter how ridiculous that price is - and trying to get that price.

You can either pay it - or walk away.

Or call your legislator and try to get a law passed to force the price down by sending cops and lawyers in to threaten the guy who's simply trying to sell something and who thinks somebody out there might be willing to part with that much money.

Which way is REALLY the more douchey way to deal with things?

I find myself wondering if the overall feeling is more like this:

Somewhere out there, a person offers a PMAG, an upper, or a whole gun at a price that's 40% higher than what they would have, pre-craze.

A different seller says "Geez, I'm going to screw myself if I don't also price my item at that same level".

And the buyers say "This appears to be the going rate, so I'm going to get in on it before it goes higher", thus supporting the artificially high rate.

We saw it with housing prices recently, and before that, with the 2008 stock market bubble. There IS some support for the manic buying of guns and items which may be banned (get in before the new ban), but a lot of this purchasing is, to borrow the phrase, "full retard".

If you have something to sell, which you won't miss, it's a good time to cash in before people come to their senses. On the other hand, if you don't -need- something but are buying it because you aren't sure, but you might have bought it in the future, you might want to sit out this particular bubble.

It's only full retard if there is no gun ban.

If there is a gun ban - then you will count that money as well spent.

This same thing happened back in 1986 when the no more machine guns for civilians rule was about to go in.

Some manufacturers went crazy turning out civilian legal MG's to get them in under the ban. On some rifles - like FN FNC's - there's supposedly more full auto sears out there than there are actual rifles to put them in.

This is only because the manufacturers went hog wild and churned out crap like crazy before the ban came down. If not for them - they wouldn't even exist. The after effect of those manufacturers staying up nights doing that - is that even now I can go out and buy a semi FNC - and find a sear - and make it into a full auto.

The effect is the same as what's going on right now - if somebody is paying 40$ for a PMAG - that means that at Magpul they can hire labor - pay overtime - and keep those production lines cranking 24x7 from now until what ever happens happens.

If no ban comes - then you just paid a crapload of money for something that is now back to selling for $12.

If the ban does come - that means 20 or 30 years from now there will still be PMAG's floating around.

Like I keep saying - some of you guys need to get a ****ing clue.

Really? Say you're the owner of a gun shop and you know that you're not going to be able to get any ARs in for a very long time, and when you do they're going to cost you a lot more than the last batch did. What are you going to sell those for?

See, the demand has gone through the roof. The supply is down. Guess how that reflects the price?

No one is "price gouging". That is not a real thing. If you don't like the prices, don't buy the item. Go support the sorry sod who isn't keeping up with supply and demand, and say your goodbyes because his store won't be in business very long.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it epic that you waited 6 years to make your 1st post. [smile] [thumbsup]

It's too bad that business owners are all about making a killing on the items they sell. Back when mom and pop shops ruled the world they would take care of their customers and help them out.

It all has to do with reputation. The sellers that gouge now won't be long lasting businesses. Why do you think that 4 Seasons was so busy? Because Carl is a decent guy that didn't look at this as a good chance to make a fortune. He kept charging a fair price and buyers appreciate that.

What pisses me off is the items in the Classified Section that are way over priced and being sold by people that aren't regulars here. They sign up just to sell stuff at inflated prices. You see it with Glocks especially on here and now anything that is related to a black rifle.

You dont like the price. Dont buy it. Its like the stock market. Buy low sell high.
People invested in lowers, mags, etc and have been sitting on some of this stuff since 2004. They had $$ tied up for years.

No one wants to see an AWB. But if ithappens the smart people are in low.
Blame the govenment they are the ones that create this. No one else. Its sour grapes to complain now you didnt have to be a psychic to see this coming.
