On March 23rd this month Holbrook Sportsmans club is having an event introducing PRS Rimfire competitions. If you are interested or have been wanting to check them out, this is a good opportunity to give it a try. Best way to learn and have fun is jump right in.

this is the email I got about it.

We are launching the first Rimfire Precision Rifle Series and welcome competitors of all skill levels. This first program will focus on beginner and developing competitors.

Rimfire Precision Rifle Series

When: 23 Mar 2025, 9:00 AM till 3:30 PM
Where: Big Bore Range

EVENT DETAILS:

The first Holbrook Sportsmen's Club Precision Rimfire Rifle Series match is open for registration.

Just an FYI. There is a PRS qualifier match in N. Dartmouth that day. Has the Holbrook MD reached out to our Regional MD? Is Holbrook a PRS club? We go to great lengths to not schedule matches on the same day.

And I will be at your match at RGNB, looking forward to it :) I'm pretty sure Joe had no control over getting stuck with that date which conflicts with your match, it was not intentional and we all try to avoid it but it happens. Hopefully newer interested people can get a feel for this type of match if they are not members and can check it out. They are not a PRS club yet, next year maybe. I did tell them how to find dates of other area matches.

As these clubs are only 45 miles apart, I would assume the NB match will draw the normal PRS member crowd. If the Holbrook match were on a PRS off day, some more experienced shooters would probably go there and could really help out the newer shooters and the newer club program.

the Holbrook practiscore link says "Rimfire Precision Rifle Series" and "NRL22 match"
so what is it?

My name is Joe Bruno i am the match director for Holbrook. My match was scheduled for April. But l had to switch it for another program at the club. We are not affiliated with any franchise yet. Going to see how our first year goes
We are running house rules for these matches

It's neither. We are running it with house rules

Hi @Jbruno08
Thanks for chiming in. I'm not sure if I know you or not.

Are you a PRS shooter? Do you have any experience as a MD?

Wish you the best of luck in your venture. Through my experience it will be hard to grow your club w/o some affliction. The New England Region shooters are chasing points. I say that to say most of us don't just shoot for fun.

You are also advertising your match as a Precision Rifle Series match. When you are using house rules?

Biggie

This is my first role as match director in a new rifle program. I was chairman of some pistol programs at my club that was already set up. I am not a prs member only attended 3 events so far. I advertise it as precision rifle because I didn't not what to call the sport. I figured that people who already know about the program already have there schedules planned out. My thoughts are to use this to promote this discipline of shooting. My first match was very overwhelming. Lot more involved then I thought. This program gives me a opportunity to help people know what there getting into and be able to coach a long the way. I appreciate all the feedback good or bad you have to offer.

What kind of rigs are people using?
ignore the high price tag gear. (for now)
I started with a savage mark 2 rifle and a mueller scope and placed exactly in the middle of the field at my first match. If you have any sort of 22lr scoped rifle go give this game a try. There is a division for semi auto as well so a 10/22 is a great place to start

I started out with what I had, a 10/22 and did fine with that but got a Bergara bolt action after 2 matches, I still have that but a couple years ago I joined the Vudoo crowd since I had a $500 off certificate. For a scope, I run a Vortex Strike Eagle. Chassis is an MDT ACC gen 2 since it has the shorter 15” fore end. That matches my centerfire PRS rifle in an ACC, except it has a Razor HD gen 2.

There are many running CZ rifles
I have seen Anschutz , Volquartson, Savage, Ruger precision rifles, any magazine fed 22.

I would stay away from tube fed 22’s

Is this Holbrook members only or public also?

I build 2 rim x so far. You want be disappointed. But like other people said you don't need anything crazy to get into this sport. Just a good scope with a recite with data preferably mil. Have a good 50 yard zero and a idea on your DOPE.
