I checked the thread that's been collecting information on policies in various towns, and didn't see any feedback indicated for Tewksbury. I just did a class for a couple from Tewksbury earlier this evening and would like to be able to give them any information that might be available. Thanks.

Ken

From the Tewksbury website.

License To Carry / FID application Check List

  • FEE $100.00 - CASH only ( Persons 70 years of age and older are exempt also there is no fee required if you are only applying for FID renewal )
  • Copy of Front and Back of Drivers License and Permits
[*]Proof of Citizenship - i.e. Birth Certificate or Naturalization Is this a normal requirement? Not that I have a problem with it.
  • New Applicants - Must Have a Safety Course Certification , Mass Hunter Safety Course or Mass State Police Approved Safety Course for the Permit you are Applying for.
  • If you are applying for for protective use in the work place. You will need a Letter from your Employer.

You MUST Answer The Question the following Question:

"Have you ever appeared in ANY Court as a Defendant for ANY Criminal Offense"

If you have any Questions regarding gun permits or any other related matters. Please Call 1-978-640-4381 at ext. 222 ask for Alice or ext.237 and ask for Sgt. Gayno. I tried calling but it was to early.

Per MGLs, LTCs can ONLY be issued to US Citizens. FIDs can be issued to Legal Aliens but only by MSP/CHSB, not by the local chief and they are issued for 1 year at a time for $100!!

So it is not unreasonable for a chief to require a copy of a birth certificate or naturalization papers on the initial issue of a LTC. In this case, he would be fulfilling his legal obligation to make sure that the LTC is only issued to US Citizens.

Resident LTC's. Temporary non-resident LTCs may be issued to non-citizens.

Rob, thanks for the clarification.

Yes, weirdly enough the restriction is ONLY if you live in MA and are not a US Citizen!

Another piece of brilliant wizardry by our esteemed legislature. [rolleyes] [rolleyes]

So, with the addition of the not burdensome or illogical proof of citizenship, we know that they make you do what's required. That still doesn't give much insight into whether they'll issue an LTC-A for ALP, or what sort of hoops one one needs to jomp through.

I tried to call earlier this morning, the person I needed to talk to was not in yet. I will try to call again in a little bit.

Without any other information, I'd look at this as a tip off as to what they will "normally" issue.

Judging by the number and extent of syntax errors and other glaring mistakes, I would not expect any great grasp of logic, or even a comprehension of the fundamental precepts set forth in Glidden's book - assuming they even use it.

People who use capital letters like salt - "season to taste" and post incomplete sentences on public agency websites are clearly not concerned with detail and accuracy or are too ignorant to see even obvious errors. [rolleyes]
