You've been reading about some crazy shooting at the Pentagon and Marine Museum and a recruiting office.

News reports have been that the same gun is being used -- and this does seem likely, but...

Has anyone heard what caliber is being used or are they being cagey about it for some reason?

And, with bullets embedded in special glass, is there any chance of matching micro-scratches?

I'm sure that they can tell caliber. They can tell number of lands/grooves. This is helpful in an investigation, but it doesn't prove it is the same gun.

Am I wrong?

[laugh2]Now you see the potential benefits of microstamping.

Also GPS micro-chipping every American and installing remote cameras at every intersection and public building. That way we can find the perp right away. Personal freedom be damned, let's get this guy!

[/SARCASM] (cuz some people won't get it)

From the replies, it does appear that there has been no mention of what caliber was used.

When someone sees an update, please update this thread.

While they're looking for the guy they aren't going to release any details that don't help them catch the guy and convict him. A lot of what you read in papers is also intentionally slightly off to weed out the nuts that always confess to any high-profile crime.
