Range backpacks, good bugout bags?

Depends on how serious you take the whole " bug out" thing. I have a 100 liter backpack to bug out. I don't plan on going far, or if so, going quick. I take the extra weight (around 120 lbs fully armed and ready to march). Even in the shape I'm in, 10 to 12 miles per day should be doable.
A range bag is more of a "get home" bag.

Excuse me, I lost 60 lbs and counting. But 400 sounded about right back in January. Plain unacceptable display of a lack of self discipline that I am rectifying as we speak.

It's doable, but like FM said, more like a get home bag. I let a buddy borrow my regular pack and I did 20 miles with about 5500ft eg in an overnight with my daypack (similar to that range bag) carrying about 40 lbs and not enough water, and I would not want to do that with more weight in a situation where I was under any kind of stress. It's not a matter of weight, but support. An internal frame pack makes a world of difference. Just my .02

I own this bag, I really like the ruggedness of it. I can store 6 pistols in it comfortably. Some Ammunition, and everything I need for the range.

I debated over the bag I bought and the bag from the OP.
I chose the one I have, because the OP'S one has no ammo storage, and is a max of 4 pistols, and as that foam is nice, I prefer all my pistols to have trigger locks on them. Which there is not enough space with that foam insert.

Swiss Mountain Rucksack
Cheap, reliable and waterproof. I've used it in all types of weather and no complaints.
Medium Alice packs work well. If I'm packing some type of shelter/blanket that is the majority of space and weight, minus water weight. Don't underestimate a good nights sleep

I just picked up the 5.11 Rush 72 to start my bug out/get home bag. It seems extremely durable and is loaded with the MOLLE system for additional attachments.
