New shooter. Just got my LTC A no restrictions. Need some opinions, suggestions, on clubs in Franklin County. Looking for something near Greenfield.

FCSC Is a great club. 3 pistol ranges, a bow range, 3 trap fields, a 100yd and 200yd (180? yd) rifle range and an indoor pistol range thats open 24 hours a day! It is more expensive ($135 annually) than leyden, south deerfield, williamsburg etc, but its well worth it. It is right off of river rd in deerfield.
It is a busy place though, so if your looking for a slower paced location to practice uninterrupted I would reccomend one of the other local ranges.

Thanks for the replies guys. Any more suggestions? How about any local shops? The only one in town only sells to LEOs.

R&R in belchertown or drive out to four seasons. Trader johns in nh is close enough its worth the trip even though you cant bring any handguns home.

There's a range in S. Deerfield?

Alstead gun shop, there are two (three?) in Springfield/W.Springfield (guns and gun parts is a small but very nice shop, the owner is extremely helpful), and a few in the orange/athol/south hadley area as well. Also, Petes in Adams Mass.

Be forewarned, John of Trader Johns is a nice guy, but he can come off as a "crusty old man"...he can be gruff, but I HAVE seen him smile[laugh]

There is also the Millers gun shack (not sure if hes back up and running since he moved) and Steve at Green Mountain Honda has an FFL, but no inventory. He will place orders if you call and ask.

I also like Riverview Sales in E. Windsor Ct, but if you dont have a CT LTC you will have to wait the mandatory 2 weeks for a long gun unless you have it transferred to a Mass FFL

I was a member there for years. Nice range, usually no one there when I would go. Im only lacking a membership because I keep spending the $ on guns. [laugh]

Yup

I am a current member at fcsc. On thursday there was only other person there, which was a first for me. I would offer to show you around, but my schedule is pretty much balls out right now, so it is difficult to make plans. Perhaps in a couple of weeks if things slow down for me.

I know that some other members here are members at the fcsc, perhaps one of them could step up to get you in sooner.

I was a member for a while. I let it lapse when I was in college because I wasn't around. I did try and get a membership at one point, and called the guy I used to when I needed to renew. Unfortunately they have the forms I have to fill out and mail, then wait for them to get around to getting back to me. If it was the old way, where I could just go to his house, pay up and get my fob, I would have it already. Now its just a combo of laziness and the fact that I need to get new tires for my car this month ($$$). I was going to tide myself over by going to shoot skeet on Sunday's but since the rule change after the Westfield incident, they keep the gate locked even though trap/skeet is "open to the public".

Thanks guys. Sounds like FCSC is gonna be the place but gotta wait till I make my first purchase. And that's gotta wait till I save up money. So it'll be a little while. Hey any suggestions on first handgun purchase?
