I have a 1962 Remington 552 speedmaster semi auto. The original rear sight is a fixed leaf with the wedge. Wedge is missing.
I Wanted to up grade the sights to something adjustable. I was considering Williams BUT they do not make the rear bases.
Being a 1962 the current rear sight base has larger screws and wider bolt patern. The rifle is also equiped with a rear 3/8 dovetail. I have had little success trying ti find a rear sight set up to work.

ANY BODY!

By "wedge", do you mean the elevator thing with notches that raises the rear sight in graduations? I would think Numrich would have the part or a generic elevator that would work.

Or is it like the rear sight on a Ruger 10/22 where it fits in a dovetail and flips up or down?

I want to get away from the wedge, I would like to find adjustable rear sight to fit the 3/8 dovetail. I ordered the BDL base but the mount hole spaceing is different. I was going to get the Williams sight that mounts to the BDL base......Im not all that thrilled with the quality but I maybe reduced to Hiviz rear sight.

Bob's Gun shop (LINK) lists a peep for the 552 & 572. No further description than that, sadly, so you might want to call them. Maybe they have more info.

There are a few companies that make peeps intended for air rifles that fit 3/8 dovetails - might be worth a look.

Did Remington change the mount pattern on that rifle at some point? They've been making those a long time. You might want to ask on Rimfirecentral.com in the Remington section, lot of information over there.

Good Luck!

Reminton went to a ramp/base and also changed the mount hole spaceing. so far I can not find anithing about what went in the 3/8 dovetail hidden under the leaf?
